I never experienced any of the problems associated with the bad splices, but decided I'd risk having the recall done anyway.
The guys at the shop seem fine and knowledgeable, but the workmanship leads me to think someone was rushed. Having had all that stuff apart to check the valves a while ago myself, I don't think the two hours Yamaha allows is enough time for the recall.
The experience reminds me why I do my own maintenance and repairs, whenever possible.
I don't get it. I had some work done at the local Triumph dealer to me, and I was amazed. I could not figure out if the tech just did not care or was incompetent. In either case, in the end everything was made right, some by me, some by them. *BUT* I spent a lot of time taking dropping off the bike, picking it up, driving the truck instead of riding the bike. Left a bad taste in my mouth.

I think the biggest thing that got me, one time I got the bike back with a sticking throttle. All I had to do was loosen off the 2 pinch screws on the control assembly and slide the throttle away from the throttle lock. But, how could the tech not check the throttle recall when release and fix it.

Took the dash off my Gen 1 with its failed button. Took it apart, had a close look and posted some photos on an electronics forum to see whether a repair can be figured out.

I think the PCB trace has corroded and might be capable of being repaired.

I'll let you know how it goes, or you'll hear a loud bang from England if it doesn't go well!

Decided to bang my knee into the crash bars, fall down and dislocate my shoulder.

No fooling that shit hurts. Hour 4 in the ER...... dilaudid is amazing.
I tore a tendon of the bone in my right shoulder 3 years ago starting a giant chainsaw. The fuckg cord broke when I was giving a real hard pull. It will never be the same. Hope you get over yours. I heard some nfl players say that a shoulder injury was the most painful. I had both knees replaced 8 years ago at 55. That was more painful than the shoulder for me. It made picking up my s10 a lot harder. get well

Oil and filter change. Managed to remove and install the GIVI skid-plate by lying on the ground only on the left side of the bike! Getting lazy in my "old age." I want to avoid getting up and down as much as possible. I did that in the '70's, (Get down! Get back up again! :D) Yes, I was able to do this outside, the weather co-operated.

Doing the regular maintenance is a really good realtionship with your bike, that is great! Good job!
(by the way, how old are you?)
I'm 64 and there are many things I can not do! but regular maintenance is a must!
Regards!

Been thinking of doing this mod for years. I’ve wanted to french in the LED’s and run all the wires inside the racks. I’ve done this type of work many times before and just never had the time. So I slapped them on, got the effect I wanted. Works killer!
Hard to tell with two pictures, it has running lights, brake & amber turn signal. Super easy to install and even more presence at night / braking / turning.
