I don't get it. I had some work done at the local Triumph dealer to me, and I was amazed. I could not figure out if the tech just did not care or was incompetent. In either case, in the end everything was made right, some by me, some by them. *BUT* I spent a lot of time taking dropping off the bike, picking it up, driving the truck instead of riding the bike. Left a bad taste in my mouth.I never experienced any of the problems associated with the bad splices, but decided I'd risk having the recall done anyway.
The guys at the shop seem fine and knowledgeable, but the workmanship leads me to think someone was rushed. Having had all that stuff apart to check the valves a while ago myself, I don't think the two hours Yamaha allows is enough time for the recall.
The experience reminds me why I do my own maintenance and repairs, whenever possible.
I think the biggest thing that got me, one time I got the bike back with a sticking throttle. All I had to do was loosen off the 2 pinch screws on the control assembly and slide the throttle away from the throttle lock. But, how could the tech not check the throttle recall when release and fix it.
