This is true. There is another bolt inside that needs to be removed before the filler cap assembly can be removed. So unless you have removed this and left it off, unscrewing the other bolts won't get you into the fuel neck to fill. Security to prevent fuel theft.
@makntraxs - Every Super Tenere comes with a 4mm allen wrench clipped under the rider seat. It's to allow access to the quick release body panel on the right side so you can get to the battery and factory tool kit.
And BTW, all caps is considered yelling on the internet.
Canadian Teneres have a different key system than Tens sold in the u.s..
We get 3 keys, one red headed key and two black headed keys.
The blacks are for daily use and the red head stays at home in a very secure place.
If you lose or break a black headed key, they the red head must be used to "pair" a new key. If the redhead key were lost, you cannot create a new black key.
If a Canadian Ten were stolen without any keys it is impossible to start the bike and just a new ignition switch would not do the trick.
European bikes are similar I think with regards to the keys.
Here's what I really want to know, what grades of gas is everyone a burnin??
The handbook states 91 octane. (Canadian). Basically we get three grades of gas, 87, 89, 91 and occasionally 93 or 94.
I've been using 91 since new, '18 Tenere with 12,600 KM. I paid $1.45 for 91 octane recently, whereas 87 was selling for $1.15. Unusual price spread. I'm talking litres here, 1 gallon US = 3.785 litres
So $1.45 × 3.785 = $5.49 per gallon in dollars Canadian or $5.49 × .73 = four bucks U.S.
So, what gas ya'll using??
