Well, this is my first longer ride on ST. I have done tens of trips on FJR1300, so now is the opportunity also to compare the two very different bikes.
Me and my buddy Toomas took an overnight boat from Estonia to Sweden, arriving in the morning into a rainy Kappelskär.

As the weather was chilly and rainy, we did not make many stops and rode in the first day through the country to Gothenburg in west coast. The smaller roads are nice and curvy though.

Next morning we took a new boat from Gothenburg to Frederikshavn in Denamrk from where we headed to the most northen point, Skagen.
Its a pretty windy place ...

From there we rode by western coast of Denamrk towards Germany, we got a lot of wind but also saw many beautiful and cute Danish towns.

As there is a limit of 10 pics in one post, I will continue in the next one

In hamburg I bought myself a new Held Atacama riding suit, a very good one indeed. I will post a more detailed description of it in another threadimg_20190529_110347_0135.jpg

From Hamburg we headed to the Mosel river valley, where is a picturesque road following the river for many hours to ride, river in one side and hills with grapes on the other, beautiful small towns and villages every now and then

After 3 days riding in the area of Mosel Valley, we rode to our next destination, which was the Schwarzwald or Black Forest. Its another bikers' papradise in Germany with hundreds of km of twisties in the hills and beautiful landscape. We stayd in Baden Baden for few days, a luxurious German SPA location

So, when we were done riding the twisties, we visited te Porsche Museum in Stuttgart.

After salivating in Cabrio, we had a pretty uneventful fast track back home through Poland, Lithuania and Latvia.

All in all, Germany is a fantastic place for riding. The smaller roads are nice and curvey, general speed limit is 100 km/h, and on motorway, of course, there are no limits at all. Beer is excellent and plenty of accommodation for reasonable pricing, like 60 € fully equipped apartments in small villages for 2 persons.

As for ST, it is hands down much more suitable bike to ride in twisties and cities than FJR. It goes into lean easily and has plenty of power for U curves in alps. On motorways, however, it is no match to FJR on speeds over 120 km/h. I did ride for some time at speeds of 140-150 km/h, but the vibes in the bike became pretty uncomfortabel rather soon. I am happy with the bike anyway.

Enjoyed that, thanks for posting.

Mosel and Black Forest are indeed great places to visit on a bike.

Great write-up, thanks for sharing. I love Germany, I rode along the Baltic Coast from Poland to Denmark in May and I’ll be back in September too!

Great Photos. Did the Mosel valley Baden Baden BlackForest trip 2 years ago. Was on a Tiger 800... OK but S 10 much better. Attached photo is me and usual suspects ( part of the Mercury motorcycle club.... so named because of our complete inability to keep together... much like mercury being spilled on a table! We are in Scotland this May close to Ullapool on a week long tour.... Excellent. Not all days were like this 4 wet and 4 perfect sunshine:cool:near ullapool.jpg
