so there are days where I might feel like today is a day to ride , problem is how to get it to the riding area . I bought a ramp so I can load at the house but I have to back up to a large mound in the backyard to keep it low enough to load safely . never much thought the ram 2500 4x4 would be an issue but it is . to damn tall on level ground to push the bike up the ramp safely or to unload the bike especially by ones self. the 7.5 ft ramp is to short to lesson the angle. so I am thinking of buying a new trailer , something small for the bike . I have a 18 footer for my tractor and I might have to start using it in the mean time , but might look a little much with a puny little dirt bike on it. but the floor is 12 inches off the ground not 41 inches of my tuck , and that is stock height ,no lift . I talked to a guy using 10 ft ramps at the track ( his truck was lifted and taller than mine ) and he said works great but has never felt very safe in using them . so I exploring small trailers now, and so it goes.
A small trailer works really well, and too will use it for a lot of things you never even thought of. I am trucking my tenere to a rally 10 hrs away and am concerned about getting it in and out of the back of the truck. I’ve loaded dirt bikes using a ramp and have gotten the technique down pat. But a 600lb bike is a whole new ball of wax.

silverbullet, I borrowed the neighbors hitch hauler to try , all the moving around and noise freaks me out . could not get it to not move hanging on the back of truck . I will probably use the big trailer , but its mainly for the tractor . a small trailer ,in time , I could pull behind the wife's suv . but the price of a hitch hauler is damn cheap , might have to learn to live with the noise etc.

mak10, im with you on 600 lb bike "is not going in back of my truck " they do make ramps for the Harley crowed that are as wide as the tailgate if your going to truck the heavy bike, but little narrow DB ramps high off the ground , never.

I'm a 2 stoke fan.
Light weight,
Twice the power for CC.
Way easier to work on.
Way cheaper to rebuild.
Way more fun!
Less expensive to buy.
Sounds like a real dirt bike, not a big fart!
They are making a huge come back.
Agreed. Recently finished the resto on this old Maico very cheaply. Would be at home in the vintage race scene or just to go rip your arms off on your own property. Then again, fuel injection on the new 4 strokes is pretty awesome... Coin toss.P1010911.JPG

Nice, when I first saw the picture, it reminds me of the old days on the dirttrack...because it looks pretty much like the Montesa, there was a lot of for 35 years ago, in Europe. (Just about the time where Honda bought some of the shares)
(didn't know this one, even it is from Germany)

cool picture, I actually had a maico 401 when I was 17, I had no mechanical skills , as mentioned previously , no dirt skills . the bike was probably a little wore out when I got it , terrible time trying to get it started, extremely loud , and had two speeds , 0 or warp 9...…. some one gave it to me , and eventually I gave it to someone else , probably in a barn some where. the one good thing I remember is it had a great seat.

On your way to everywhere, , Iowa
I had a 400 that looked like that.
picked it up for $50. and rode it for years, sold it for almost $2,000. and it needed complete rebuild.

I love the style, looks and form of the 75-83 off road bikes. It was the favorite thing to go into a motorcycle shop with my Dad and look at the bikes. Bikes were affordable for the average person then and every manufacturer had a full lineup. Great memories.

have a question..... adding a fan kit and adding a larger fuel tank may not work , at least according to some sites like rocky mountain . any ideas or experience on the honda out there.

I'm happy you are getting out and enjoying your ride! I just finished prepping mine for the upcoming Jimmy Lewis off road class next weekend.
