Well. I got pulled over 2 days after I bought the bike. Was going 65 in a 55 (mph). Given a warning. A week later got nailed again this time was doing 75 in a 55. Didn’t luck out this time. 1st ticket in years. It did get me to slow down, some.
Well, yes, just pick your spots, that is where to let her go.
We are fortunate up our way with lots of rural country roads and not too many bears. As I said earlier, plan it out and if you do get noticed have a plan and give her a blast and pick a quiet place to hide for a few hours. Must know the local area and roads.

I liked the Yam triple engine, but the ergonomics just locked me into one position, which had me aching to move after about 15 minutes.
.
As for speed, in Virginia you go straight to jail charged with Reckless Operation for 20+ mph in excess OR anytime over 80 mph. Glad we still have Wild Wonderful West Virginia.
Hmmm, thanks for the warning...I'm planning a ride down your way coming season. Guess I better use the cruize.
Know wonder so many drivers and riders do the escape.

If you are caught doing a wheelie or 50 km over the posted speed limit, you might just as well rollit on and get the hell out of there and go and hide somewhere. Generally speaking, police won't pursue or chase a motorcyclist.
how about stoppie, forbidden as well? ;)

p.s.
good to know they won't pursue motorcyclists...

It's the reverse of a wheelie. When you stop hard enough, with the FRONT brakes, to raise the BACK wheel. Did it once, purely by accident & in preservation mode, on the BMW 1150RT-P.
Ok thanks got it !

Id like to buy a tracer gt,but for the money im going to get a left over fj09. Not the same bike for sure but 6k less.
Always money to be saved by buying a left over/obsolete model. In my case luggage and cruise control were must-haves so the 900 wasn't even in my radar before the GT was introduced. And the quick-shifter was just gravy, man I love snicking it through the gears holding WFO throttle!

Yes that gt looks like a great bike with nice features. My hooligan bike now is a 1999 kannon with a pro built 347 in it that i built from a kit in 1998 and titled in 1999. Having back and hip troubles now so i dont want to risk injury holding it up at stops. So the fj09 will replace that.s10 will be my primary ride.I think if i bought the tracer gt the s10 would not be ridden as much, dont off road to much anymore. We ride 2 up allot so s10 gets that duty.

I just looked at a Tracer, looks great, but this dealer will not let you sit on their bikes.
Ran into another motorcyclist who sat on one and said the pegs are back like on a sport bike.
Deal breaker for him................................and possibly me!
I certainly hope you told the dealer that you would not be buying a bike from ANY dealer that didn't let you test ride one, much less not even let you SIT on one. I can't believe that dealer is even still in business.

We called them bunny hops in the 70s. Blew a millions seals on those old bikes. I know a guy thats been in a wheelchair for 30 years doing one on a dirt bike in the sand.

Ya, my neighbour just bought a new unused 2016 fj09.
Not for me, but still a sweet looking ride.

I like the new Tracer. Engine, features, style.
Me too, I had a serious look at the Tracer, but for about 3 thousand more I bought a new ES Tenere. I had a 2018 Honda CB650F and a 2016 Africa Twin. The 650 was a blast, but too "buzzy" and definitely not a cruizer.
The Africa Twin is a great machine, but I got tired of oiling the chain. The AT had the best ground clearance (9 1/2 inches) but it could be a handful at speed in higher winds.
SO, I like the adventure bikes, most I could not ride as they are too tall for me 5' 8".
(read KTM's)
I now have about a thousand kilometres on my Tenere and I find it is more stable at speed in winds and feels like a solid ride. My conclusion is the AT would be best at off road stuff and the Tenere although good at off roading is more suited to highway riding. Just thinking about getting a lower seat for my Tenere or I can but 5 rubber bumpers or whatever they are called to replace the ones under the seat.
Has anyone out there done this and if so what was the result, did it lower the seat height or just level it? Yamaha sells a lower seat, any comments on Yamaha's lower seat??
The Tenere needs to go on a diet.
JMHO and thanks to those who chime in on this.

Shumba, leveling the seat made a world of difference for me in long distance comfort. I have a 34” inseam though and the extra height of the mod does not bother me. I did the video mod that Is on this site.

If you want to keep the seat lower, search for the rubber bumper mod- you have to buy different length rubber seat bumpers from the Yamaha parts counter. This works to level the seat as well.

I have heard of shortening the oem bumpers by cutting them. I would just go buy shorter ones as they are not expensive.

Also it seems that my seat foam “broke in” after some time in the saddle. I am happy with my oem. Maybe it’s from riding my KTM dirt bike. That seat is like a wood plank.
