Gents

Apologies in advance if this has been asked before. I have done some investigation on here, the net in general and with my Yamaha dealer, who it must be said has been next to useless.

I just traded my 2013 (Non ES) for a new ES and I'm super impressed with the new machine. I stripped all of the good stuff off the old one for adding to the new one. My question to the forum is "Does the mounting hardware from the non ES panniers work with the ES model?

There appears to be one of the electronic suspension cylinders being supported from the right rear foot peg bracket?

The old pannier support bracket used to connect directly to the rear foot peg support bracket, which is now appears to be challenging because of the suspension component.

Did Yamaha release a new support for the ES version?

Any tips or tricks to get the bracket to fit?

Many thanks in advance

You are correct, the 'standard' racks from the Gen1 will not fit directly to a Gen 2 ES, as you've discovered. You can either fabricate a little hardware to extend the right side rack 'out' or end up getting another set. A member on here from the UK did have a little welding but made a Gen 1 set fit. Sorry, that's about all I have.

Hmmm, when I bought the standard OEM bags there was only one set, no ES specific set and they installed on my ES just fine. There's a bit of fiddling with the right footrest bracket due to the shock's gas cylinder there (not sure if the non-ES models also have this or not), otherwise the extra bits under the right side and the cover do not interfere. The same cannot be said for some aftermarket bags I understand.

I think the 'racks' from Yamaha are more of hangers, rather than racks that connect together under the tail lights and then to the peg mount, so if it is after market then he would have an issue.

I’m going to mount Jesse racks on my ES and the right side must be extended out to clear the side cover.
A little ingenuity and craftsmanship is needed. ;)

Same. I bought the bags from an individual who had totaled his bike on a pig. Good for me, his bags were at home that day. When I ordered the mounting hardware, I did not specify which trim level, and everything fit. Mr. Bertrand is understating the "fiddling" though; much cussing on my part. An additional set of hands would have made it MUCH easier. But maybe that's just me.

Many thanks gents. I had a suspicion that it was possible, despite being somewhat “fiddling”

My yam dealer here n Melbourne, Australia told me I needed the new mounting kit, which is only available at he moment from Europe on special order at a cost of $400 AUD.

Appreciate such rapid feedback from you all.

I would agree they are more like hangers. There's no connection under the tail lights though, the hangers attach to the two grab handle mount points and then there are the two foot peg brackets the lower inside front corner of each bag slips over. The set up is pretty steady actually and I like the appearance of the minimal residual bracketry when the bags are off.
