I was reading that this is the last year for KLR's and the replacement
will be a redone Versys with longer suspension and 17 / 21 wire wheels.
Could be interesting since Yamaha is holding back on there 700 version.

Mama Kaw has a great opportunity to redesign the KLR into an awesome dual-purpose machine that would compliment its heritage proudly.

I hope they do so without making it an overweight pig.....or cow rather.

A 600-700cc range Versys with 21/17 and real suspension would be huge for the market.

My concern is that one of the biggest draws for the KLR is its simplicity. At a minimum this will be SERIOUS competition for the Vstrom650, and if it has KLR suspension IMO it might be a better bike.

edited because stupid. lol

There was/is a similar thread. I believe that Kawasaki's decision is in response to the Yamaha T7. I wonder though, will they use the Versys as a replacement? Or, will it be BASED on the Versys, and keep the KLR moniker? Kinda like the transformation of the FJ into the FJR.

I was stuck in DFW airport en route to AIM Expo and met a Kawasaki rep headed the same way. We discussed their plans for several bikes.
Yes the KLR is to be discontinued and the Versys is it’s replacement.
To my surprise the Concourse is also headed for the wayside with the H2 (can’t recall the specific model but it wasn’t just “H2”) as that bikes replacement. -JEP-

Just to confirm, the H2 is going to replace the Connie? 'Cuz to me, and I can't believe I'm saying this, there is such a thing as too much HP on a motorcycle. Considering that the Concours was fast enough; although not as nimble as I would like.

LOL, if a 300 HP H2 is replacing the Concours touring bike, I think they must mean that they only plan on putting out "x" number of models and the H2 is replacing the Concours. It would be something akin to replacing an SUV with a cruise missile (no offense intented to the Concours). . Imagine the reaction of an unsuspecting rider the first time he cracked the throttle on an H2 that the salesman sold to him because he wanted a touring bike to go see America....
