taskmaster86 said:I bought a Napa gold 1358 just for the purpose of cutting it open and inspecting it. It is a well made filter and fits behind the skid plate but the filter element is tiny compared to OEM or the Mahle OC-575. I am not saying it doesn't work or having a small element is necessarily bad but it certainly isn't good either. A smaller filter element has less surface area, which gives less capacity to hold contamination.
I may be mis-remembering, but my recollection is even though the element is dimensionaly shorter height wise, I believe the number and depth of the pleats is higher giving a fair number for the total surface area. And, what with changing the filter every 5k, if I'm generating enough debris to cause a by-pass, I'm already in deep doo-doo. ::019::
