***KNOCK ON THE DOOR*** Carbon tear down

Oh yeah, it’s all getting replaced. I use Partzilla regularly, but it’s nice to get another person’s testimonial on that site.

***KNOCK ON THE DOOR*** Carbon tear down

In the event this thread has not totally died for lack of input, and if anyone is interested, I have some revelatory information regarding this whole debacle with my bike. Yes, there were carbon deposits to be found, for sure, but there was also a substandard cam chain tensioner installed...

I’m all for going cheaper. I’ll need to anyway, after footing the repair bill!

***KNOCK ON THE DOOR*** Carbon tear down

I guess for me I would just like to understand what I’ve done that might be causing these problems. The bike has 78,000 miles. I go freeway speeds up to 90 mph, 100 miles, Monday through Friday. I follow the periodic maintenance guide, including valve adjustments. I use full synthetic Motul...

***KNOCK ON THE DOOR*** Carbon tear down

I was consistently running 91 octane (the highest available in my locality), and I would usually go to a 76 or a Chevron station. Pretty hard to avoid a small amount of ethanol here and there. And some people that I’ve corresponded with actually believe that the higher octane may also contribute...

***KNOCK ON THE DOOR*** Carbon tear down

First of all, thank you to Tabasco for all your help and wisdom. The oil that I was running was Motul 10W-40 full synthetic. I typically change it every 5,000 miles. I love this bike, and I commute 100 miles round trip Monday through Friday at 80-90 mph. So I’m surprised that things should...

Oil in one of the cylinders from spark plug replacement

Sounds like the best solution is to tear the whole bike apart. Looking forward to truly getting into the innards of this awesome machine. What great fun this will be! Yay!

Oil in one of the cylinders from spark plug replacement

Thanks for the pic. As I age, I don’t read as thoroughly as I used to. Of course, the bike is back together now, but I’ll rip it down to the valve cover again.…and take out the spark plugs if I can’t see the round gaskets at the top of the valve cover.

Oil in one of the cylinders from spark plug replacement

I also find myself questioning, whether or not I tightened the spark plugs properly last time. Anyway, I didn’t see anything amiss.

Oil in one of the cylinders from spark plug replacement

The bike has 78,000 miles on it. The breather hose was connected properly. After replacing the spark plugs, I cranked the big girl up in the cranking – at least to my ear—seems like it could have more pep. I will follow up on the recommendation regarding the battery. Thanks. given the 6+...

Oil in one of the cylinders from spark plug replacement

Hi folks, My 2016 S 10 has had trouble starting on a cold start when the temps are down in the 40s (hey, that’s cold by Southern California standards!). Yes, I know hard starts have been covered ad nauseam on this form, but bear with me while I follow up with further context: So I’ve pulled...

Stay AWAY from Klass Cycles in Fountain Valley, CA (extremely upset at these guys)

Yes! I’ll eventually get cruise control back once the switch comes in, but I can ride for now. I’ll take take what I can get, at this point!

Pardon...I meant the clutch cover was leaking, not the crankcase cover.
