    With aluminum it comes down to the alloy: http://www.lincolnelectric.com/en-us/support/welding-how-to/Pages/aluminum-design-mistakes-detail.aspx assuming the stand is one of the weld able alloys you would need to reheat treat it to get it back the T6 state.
