I'm looking forward to hearing more about the Trialmax Mission from someone who is currently or previously has run a more street oriented tire on their S10.
I am currently running Michelin Road 5 Trails and they are super quiet, ride like rails and can handle the occasional fire road, but not much more. I would like something that performs better in dirt and gravel but without the noise that comes with typical 50/50 or even 70/30 tires.
I can concede with regards to on road handling because these are "great" but I only really need "good." Sounds like these Trailmax Missions could be the ticket if the noise is minimal.

Sierra1 - From my understanding, that high heat not only affects the tires, but the batteries and paint too, right?. I'm glad Colorado is not as hot. I don't think my body would put up with that constant heat, let alone the humidity either.

In the long run, if the Dunlop Trail Max doesn't perform very well in the cold or rain or distance, It'll probably just be a minor inconvenience, I hope. I'll find out as the miles pile up and the weather starts to get colder in another 2 or 3 months. I'm still hoping for good overall results from the Dunlop.

I am in beautiful SB, CA. The weather here is extremely forgiven and the roads are full of flowers!
Haha, no issues here..

A lot depends on the care that individual person gives those items. I've got a four year old battery, that I've killed twice, that still starts fine; I use a maintainer. My '86 FJ, and '92 YJ are still shiny; they are under cover, and have countless coats of wax. Tires are what I have the issues with, no way around cooking them on the pavement.

Yes, the humidity sucks here. But, those members that live on the Gulf Coast(s) will think I'm crazy. It wasn't 'till my wife visited AZ, that she understood what a difference humidity makes to how comfortable the temperature is.

Exactly! ♠
Do you think Mad Max would be picky like that?
He and Paris Dakar are my heroes so go figure..
Got my 1st 100 miles on it. They are incredibly responsive at 80 mph for a hybrid tire. I Also took some picks of the front since someone here called me booty man! =♠ for the wicked! Money doesn't grow on trees.. (except cannabis) lol
Not sure if i like the busy design of the front one yet. I think i would say, mixed tires wouldn't hurt..
Cheers from Cali!20210801_112859.jpg20210801_112735.jpg20210801_112805.jpg20210801_112720.jpg20210801_112859.jpg20210801_112911.jpg

I had a Shinko 705 on the front and an Anakee on the back when I bought my 2014 (used) in 2017. I now have 6000+ miles on the Dunlops and love them. I bought them specifically to do the MABDR route last fall. I like the tire in everything but mud, but can't speak to sand riding. It's quiet on the highway, (I rode 1200 miles from Maine to the start in VA), and great in rain. The tires are wearing really well for 2 seasons of riding now, and I will put these on again when they wear out.

I heard excel reviews on the Shinkos 805/804. Costs half of the price.
Not so good experiences with the 804/805's at the recent S10 rally. Two folks had rock punctures, mine had significant cracks on the rear by the time I got home and was way too noisy on the front. Another person had an out of round front causing a hop. In general, they ride and perform well, and are relatively cheap, but they are off my bike and off my list.

bobby_cali - I really like that exhaust too.

holligl - the first thing I noticed about the Shinko 804/805s was how heavy of a feel they had on the road. They seemed to take a lot of effort to maneuver. The one set I ran did take me 6-7k miles to wear out. That is is even after doing the COBDR.

Peculierboy - I ran 2 sets of the Shinko 705's and wound up giving the 2nd set to a buddy after a couple of thousand miles. They were noisy and didn't perform as well as this Dunlop. My buddy really liked them. The first set did last about the 6-7k miles. I'm glad to hear the Dunlops are still doing well after 6k.

I've had them on mine S10 for about 7k miles now & they are relatively a hard compound tires that are wearing very nicely! It has fantastic grip on dry pavement and pretty darn good on basic gravel roads. It started out quiet for about 3k miles but now, it sounds like a proper 'jeep tires'...lol. But from the price/performance perspective, these tires offers darn good value, I think. I'd replace with them another set when time comes.

Specially the rear. It looks and feels bad ass!
Not to sure about the front one yet since i only got 200 miles on it. I have seen a lot of riders mix treads and brands specifically for their kind of ride. I may consider that as I feel like it is too busy of a tread.
