Had my bike two weeks tomorrow but the log books not arrived yet!! Is this normal when buying from a dealer? FJR one turned up within days. Or is it just covid/summer hols causing delays?

If the dealer did the transaction online then a couple of days is normal, if they posted the paperwork in then it'll take weeks due to delays in the DVLA.

DVLA are in the press at the moment, something about a strike I think.

I can see the DVLA from my house and one of my friends works there, they have a massive backlog of work there due to COVID and although many of the employees there are working from home, there has been an awful lot of them having to isolate. Patience is the word I’m afraid:(

The DVLA problems are all over the media at present.

IIRC your bike was a Euro4 pre-reg, so the change of ownership & new VED payment should have been completed on-line when you were with Chorley Yamaha. However, you could just plumb your registration number into the DVLA site, which will show if the bike is taxed & if/when the computer thinks you have been issued with a V5 ........... https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-tax. It's often worth checking MID too, for peace of mind.

Thanks, good idea. So this shows the bike as Taxed and a new v5 was issued on the 20th, so I guess it’ll arrive any day now.

I work there in Output Services, any online transactions are processed within a couple of days but anything posted in can take 6 to 10 weeks.

Had a maiden run with the wife on pillion last night. Needed a decision as to which bike to take with us to Scotland next week. And the winner is……..the Tenere. She’s pretty happy with it, and as the FJR needs its forks servicing it’s one less job needing doing before we go Wednesday morning. Does give us an alternate problem though. We usually rely on the panniers to carry our kit. We usually get our jackets and trousers in the panniers and helmets in the topbox leaving just boots and tank bag in the motorhome. Can’t get the Givi frames in time so no panniers, although I’ve only got little 20ltr ones, so would only get one persons kit in them anyway.
So it looks like we’ll have to find room for everything but helmets inside the MH, which is only a wee 2 berth Autosleeper.

So far, High Command says the ZX14R is more comfortable and she prefers travelling long distances on it. But it’s had its suspension, seat and foot pegs tweaked so until I’ve had the S10 suspension tuned it’s not a fair comparison. I’ve had to cancel my ride in appointment at MCT 4 times so far due to the Rona but it’s booked in for October now and I’m hoping it’ll get down this time. I’ve also been waiting for DVLA to return my licence which means I can’t drive my ambulance at the moment so I complained to my MP and he’s got Baroness Veer from the Dept of transport chasing it!!

My mate Charlie dragged me off to Eastbourne Friday, meeting up with 5 other guys to ride the Meridian from south to north. Very twisty route criss crossing the line all the way through London Etc. I did get seperated from the group exiting the Blackwall tunnel and ended up cheating a bit, going straight for the A10, I’d had enough of London back streets and Saturday traffic. But the rest ofthe route was great fun, hitting as many markers as possible. We stopped overnight in Grimsby and crossed the Humber in the morning hitting the two points where the line crosses the last bit of land East of ’Ull. 721mile round trip.
Start point at Peachaven
