Many folks are riding 1K miles each way and also wanting a tire that will do some exploring on the entire trip. What tire will you be riding?
I’m throwing on yet another set of 804/805. I dig these things.

This is also always interning to me: what tire pressure do you choose to run ?

I’m 38/40 - 38/41 virtually 24/7

What kind of mileage do you get on these? I've never run them. I get about 7,000 on E-07+ Dakar Rears, and 20,000 on E-07 Dakar Fronts

I don’t ever run them to the max ‘worn’. A conservative guess would be 6-7 on the rear and 8-9 front.
Because these are knobs, someone could blast these off in 2K miles, and a conservative rider get almost 10. TOTALLY depends on the rider. (For all tires). (I’ve documented 20K-30K miles with K60 customers, other people have K60 to the cords @ 3-4-5K miles)
I will say, I’m pretty conservative on public roads. I’m “all out” off road.

Have you run the E07+ or E07s. How do they compare with the Shinkos? I get 70% of the mileage with the + version compared to the originals. Totally agree on rider wear. I find myself on the lesser mileage side on the rear for some reason. I do like spinning it up in the dirt.

I would just spoon on a set of Michelin Anakee Wilds. There would be plenty of tread to do the 2500 mile round trip from home and lots of riding from base camp with loads of traction to spare. If I was to do strictly pavement then the Michelin Road 5 Trail tires I already have mounted would do the trick.

I imagine most of the guys doing off road stuff will be running the E07 since it's been the most popular "adventure bike" tire the last few years. It has proven to be the gold standard and a solid choice albeit substandard grip when compared to a softer compound open block design.

Good luck to all of you and wish you the best in this rally!!

A bit different. (aren't they all) The E07 and E07s are harder than the 804-805. I actually find that the 804-805 work (feel) better in the tight twists and better off road """ TO ME """... I punish them in the twists and turns and ride them hard off road. The E07 is more 'neutral' "vanilla" to me. The E07 has better wear characteristics and a just a more neutral feel. The 804-805 are shockingly good on twist and turns and off road, but you loose out on milage, for the price, I just don't care..... Ive beat the hell out of them many times and I just find myself keep going back for another set.

At $100/pair cheaper, I may give the Shinkos shot. Worth trying anyway. Depending on the weather projections, I could end up just trailering out. I HAVE to get home on Sunday, but hate to leave early. Riding it all in one day would be a streach.
