Sounds like quite the trick ride for its time. The first bike I owned @ 18 was a new 1972 Honda CB500F. It underwent a few upgrades over the ensuing years. 750 pistons for 600CC, 750 carbs, Yoshi CR gearbox, Hayden oil cooler, Ceriani forks, 4ls waterbottle front brake etc, etc, and the frame evolved into a monocoque. Fun times, and I did learn that a single bike, my sole form or motorised transport, that was my race bike, road bike and development project were not always compatible.
I remember drooling over the orange Can Ams with the Preston Petty front fenders in my first Dirt Bike magazines when I was a kid, I had a couple of big 2 strokes over the years and it always amazed me how guys like Jeff Ward could ring the snot out of those beasts. No pic but first “official bike” (not including smaller 3 speed automatics with no clutch) was Can Am 125 Qualifier with a Rotax engine. Had a few Can Ams over the years even a 500cc 2 stroke MX. That bike would rip your arms out of their sockets.
Wow , a HD dirt bike, I heard the factory entered one in a super cross race back in the day and it broke in half on the first jump, maybe thats just an urban legend.Your looks kind of cool for that era.But the first real bike I bought was a 1972 125 Rapito.
How much did a Rapido set you back?My first bike was really a TSC mini bike. [dad bought it]
