After being told they would not order parts until they had the bike by gforce in lakewood,co. I took bike to Vickery in Aurora. They ordered part and then we made the appt. I was out of town for the week so they had all week to do it. I was nice enough to have low fuel for them and they said nothing about my crash bars. They are excellent. I returned with my TPS sensor kit (LOVE IT), my new skid plate, and my own tires for installation. Done same day of apointment for $240. Would have taken me 2 days to do it all.

Anybody tackle this recall work themselves? Seems pretty straightforward and I don't trust my dealer wholeheartedly.

When I did the headlight recall I brought the headlight assembly in to them loose.

I bought a used 2012 well after this recall started. Would Yamaha customer service at the number given in the recall notice back in 2018 be able to tell me if it was done?
I am pretty sure that if the recall was performed at a Yamaha dealership it would be documented for that particular bike/VIN.

Well it looks like I need the wiring harness recall. Went to get my bike inspected Saturday and the guy left my key on after checking the mileage. I had a hard start condition that finally cleared and on my way home it bucked like bronco I had to ride the brakes to hold it down under 50mph. Exact same symptoms as the you tube video. I restarted it when I got home and it ran just fine but has stalled on me a few times since. I haven't taken a bike to a dealer for repairs since the 70s and I'm not too eager to let just anyone cut into my wiring harness. Has anyone has the recall done in the D/FW area that was happy with the service? Thanks!

I had mine done at Maxim Honda Yamaha in Allen. Happy with the service, and the mechanic even showed me his work.

Many of the dealers want to see the bike, and hold it until they do the recall. Maxim, over the phone, only wanted the #VIN to order the parts, and called when they were in to schedule the service.

On the Yamaha site, you should be able to run the #VIN to see the recall.

I got the bike back today from the recall repair and the low/high idle issue appears to be cured. Now to worry about that noisy clutch basket.

Got my recall done last weekend. They did require that I schedule it before they ordered the part, but it wasn't a big delay. Dealer didn't want to just give me the part and the technician struggled a bit to find the connection point. It is tucked in pretty good with lots of other wires and cable ties. He was nice enough to let me "help" as I was a little concerned with the volume of wires I've got under the right side plastics, but they really weren't in the way. At least he didn't have to deal with removing and installing the plastics. We did it in their garage bay. This was his first S10 for the recall - he'd been doing others - and just wasn't all that familiar with the bike. I'm also the first person they'd come across with actual issues with the brake switch (090 code). Nice having a little more reliability on the cruise control. It was pretty annoying and only worked 1/2 the time. Hopefully this fix is a fix.

Apparently Yamaha gives them 0.3 labor hours. Probably OK if you know exactly where everything goes, but it probably took about double that just trying to figure out the wiring. I was heartened to see that a trained technician has the same problems I do when working on bikes.

I took mine to Maxim Motorsports. It was close to the house and they had done a few before. I wasn't going to do the recall until it started acting up. Something about cutting wiring harnesses that makes me nervous.

Damn mine has not been done either (the wire harness). Thanks for the link.

Is there a dealer in New England that is familiar/recommended for Super Tenere work? I am in Cambridge but don't mind riding further for the right mechanic.

That's why it's good to know & support a dealer you can trust.

Really? My bike was off the road at the time, (winter), so I went to the dealer with the VIN number, and told them to order the parts and I would bring it back in the spring when I had it on the road. Once it was on the road, I made an appointment and took it in. I even made life easier for them by making sure there was little gas in the tank and I removed the upper crash bars. No issues.
