Been in Aussie and Zealand and a little Tassie too for the past six weeks and haven't seen a Tenere.
Lots of bikes touring...green with envy I am....next visit to down under, I'm coming on me own. Back to Canada soon and hoping for an early start to the riding season..

I've been riding mine since 2014, and I bet I've seen less than ten other S10's in the wild during that time. And that's in 65,000 miles of riding, all over the US.

When we were in Australia and New Zealand back in November, I didn't see any Super Tenere's either. In and around Sydney, I was surprised to see mostly Harleys, also one new Indian.

They are all here in Colorado!
I see quite a few of them when I'm out riding around the State.

Skunkworks is right! I had to go all the way to 14,000 feet just to see another one. I was so surprised to see another one out there that I pulled in beside it just to take a photo and prove they really exist outside of internet forums! I'm the one on the left.View attachment 64006
I just returned from Australia and New Zealand and I don't recall one Tenere on the road. I spoke with a Yamaha dealer in Christchurch and he said that he had sold a few but they weren't popular. I did see several Africa Twins. (My previous bike).
If you want to see old bikes of every type, visit the bike museum in Invercargill at the south end of the south island of New Zealand. Amazing!!!
Also too, I visited a museum of bikes and cars just north of Adelaide Australia. Lots of older bikes.

How was your trip? Did you do a write up? Now that you have 14 days of self isolation you are going to have some time on your hands ;)
Hello there S S B B,
Good to hear from you. Arrived last Tuesday, March 10th. Been layin low, feelin great, but couldn't resist a ride to Port Dover on Friday the 13th.
It was cool, 5C to start and 10C in Dover!!
So, all good. Tenere was in storage since November and was a little cranky to start, but fired up very nicely after a few trys.
Sadly, I took the wife with, so, no opportunity to rent and ride. New Zealand is a riders paradise. The hills the roads the twisties!!!
Awesome, saw hundreds and hundreds of bikes of all descriptions.

Glad you had a good time, it is one of those places I have always wanted to go to. Was it a tour you did or just flight and explore?
I went for a ride last weekend too but had trouble starting it. Yeah, turns out it will not start when in gear. Duh? After that it fired right up, however I felt like a moron!!!

We only bought return air fares from Toronto to Sydney return. From there, we decided that we must see New Zealand and Tasmania, the jewels of "down under".
Having said that, I only spent time in Sydney and Adelaide with wife's friends and a relative. So cannot judge the rest of Australia by that.
Sydney is a big city of 5.3 million people!!
My bike will start in gear, but I can feel the starter labour as there is some drag from the clutch. Best to start in neutral I'm told.

Name these bikes....Hobart, Tasmania

Natasha, what lubricant do you use, mineral or synthetic? Use or not the kill switch? What do you think of the SAS 1290 from Dirt-Dad?..
