So for the longest I want a motorcycle where I had every mod. So i went and got the crash bars, bags both hard and soft, gps, lights, and other electronics I could find. When after spending a few thousand and living with some mods for a few months.

I have found that it's a waste of money and in most cases that its marketing hype. It pushed the narrative that you need it or just in incase. Well I've rethought what I use daily and what problems I've run across in my other bikes. Well its comes down to a flat tire and loose screws. Also yamaha reliability had a lot to do some it. In worse case scenarios I punched a hole in my crank case but it was my fault. So far I've noticed that st handles better in all conditions, saves gas, brakes better and saves money most of all that could that been used for more trips. About 1 day ago I had a tip over on dirt and the oem plastic guards took the force perfectly. I know the risks involved with not having this that or the other but riding comes with risk inherently. For me I riding solo and 99 percent pavement. Most these mods are useless and riding offroad alone is no go for me learned the hard way. Riding at night in LA and parts of Mexico I can tell you none of your mods will help you against a dui driver, a cow, super pot hole or careless drivers.

Atm I have one small pouch, one 3l tank bag and sometimes 2l water bottle and a 34l waterproof bag, one set of rok straps, shifter sock, larger brake pedal, f+r camera system, healtech quick shifter, corbin rider seat, phone holder, helibar risers, airhorn+plus upgrade 2nd horn, road attack 3 tires, Anthony's reflash, led lights with extended caps. The rear seat , carrier, grab handles have be removed. So far its worked perfectly for 2 to 5 day trips of some moto camping.

Looking back now I enjoyed modifying my st and have had an adventure on a non adventure bikes. Some of my most memorable times were on a 130cc scooter that cost me $700 usd in the middle of Vietnam.20200108_002204.jpg

There have been plenty of people that get on here with a brand new, or at least new to them, Tenere. They ask what they should buy/put on their bikes. Most of the time, I list what I have added to mine. I knew from the start that sooner or later, I was going to drop it. . . . always have. I also knew that there were curbs in my future, and my fat ass would definitely bottom the bike out. But, I also tell them to decide what they're going to need for where they're going to ride. Everybody has different priorities. Poor moto.monk drank the Kool-aid, and bought all the goodies he was told to buy. Now, he's having buyer's remorse. Cheer up bud. The Tenere is a great bike, and even with her narcolepsy, you still haven't hurt her. Now you know what you really need on her. :)

moto.monk, I agree with you. On my ST I have a 30 litre Givi Dolomiti top box and it contains everything I need for my leisure rides up to a 2-3 day trip. If I am going away for an extended period, then I put my 36 litre Givi Dolomiti cases and everything goes in them.

Motorcycling has too many fashion victims, not just the adventure bike segment but the cruiser riders and the sports bike power rangers too. Sometimes, less is more ;)

I cannot imagine not having crash bars or sliders on my bike.

I agree with motomonks first post. Lighter is better for me.

2015 ST: Had Altrider crash bars, Tabasco’s “Vault” skid plate, Bumot panniers, RDL seat, Orange TPMS, gps, tank bag, etc. Bike got ponderous and didn’t enjoy riding it.

2017 ST: 10# Outback MotoTech crash bars, removed rear seat, grab bars, and rack, replaced with Altrider rear and pillion racks and light weight Pelican Air case, Skene brake lights.
Still want to add some aux lights, keep going back and forth on GPS, but that’s another thread.
