We had a request to post a gun thread to share what various members own because some people have and enjoy them. Since gun, religion, and political threads usually go off the rails quickly, be aware that ANY of those posts WILL be deleted on sight. Don't care how little of the post is a violation, the entire post will be deleted because we moderators aren't going to spend our time parsing your precious words one way or the other. This goes for BOTH sides; those going on about how having guns is bad, owners licensed, yada, yada, on one hand - OR the "God, guts & 'Murica gave us the 2nd Amendment" on the other.

Again, this thread is NOT about YOUR view on the subject. Opinions are like butt-holes in we all have one and nobody else really needs to know about yours. Yes, this is intentionally blunt.

This thread is for those wanting to want to share what you have and what you do with it. Want to show your custom Kimber, icky beater Ithaca, most comfy holster, debate who makes the best 45/9/10/etc, photo of your kid with his 16 point buck next to your little doe, tree stands, 1,000 yard paper targets? Share where a meet or some activity is going to be held? Results of your last IDPA meet? (Be careful that some shooters do not want their faces shown. I used to compete with a very pretty FBI agent who did not.) Knives and other LEGAL weapons too. Go for it.

This is a trial so tread carefully in what you post to keep this thread from being deleted.

June 27, 2020 ADDITION:

A couple of people have asked about why have this thread in a motorcycle forum, Freedom of speech (1st Amendment) in the thread by not allowing discussion of 2nd Amendment issues, and a member just quit because of feeling that deleting his post was 1A censorship. So a few notes:

Regarding Freedom of Speech, the forum is privately owned and you agreed to forum rules when you signed on so just like entering somebody's house, you agreed to the house rules. While we try to be as open as possible around here, we technically could put any limits on speech that seem necessary. The limits for this thread are clearly stated in the first post.

The thread is here because a member asked for one, and it is really as simple as that. He could have started it himself but wisely recognized how fast this could go off the rails and asked in a pm to discuss how we could do this. While we are indeed a motorcycle forum we do have the Lounge for stuff like this and in The Lounge are all sorts of threads about Food Porn, Random Rants, somebody's 40th Wedding Anniversary, and all sorts of other stuff not really related to motorcycles. And we clearly have a number of members carrying in places where that is legal, so this fits in this sub-forum.

Regarding why this thread is going to instantly delete opinion posts, I've seen an entire gun forum implode on 2A rights and threads get locked over on ADV. But the one gun thread which did work for those wanting to discuss their guns is also on ADVRider and this thread was intentionally set up similar to to the first post in that one. That thread is now at 2,214 pages illustrating that a thread for gun owners can be successful.

If you don't like the topic, please simply pass this thread by and don't aggravate yourself or others. The bottom line is to play well with others, as AvGeek wrote in 2014:
Due to recent feedback, we have decided to “step-up” moderation here on the forum. Our goal is to keep this a friendly, inviting community, so we will be paying closer attention to posts, and will remove those which, in our interpretation, violate the rules. If the moderation team determines to remove posts, those decisions are final, and any further attempt to continue negative trends, or any questioning or discussion of the moderator’s actions will also be subject to removal. Those members who choose to “act out” and not abide by the rules, will face sanctions, up to and including permanent removal from the forum.

We know most of the members here act like the adults we expect everyone to be, and contribute to the knowledge and enjoyment of our bikes. Our goal is not to stifle debate or discussion, but rather to ensure that everyone who posts can do so without the threat of personal attacks, and to keep the personality of this community positive.

This is the only picture I could find on this computer, my buddy's dad was about to throw his old kit gun Kentucky rifle in a dumpster with some old carpet and rotted lumber! I was just lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time. I took it home, cleaned it all up, polished the brass, lightly sanded the wood and put some teak oil on it (I might re-do that, was hoping it would be darker). I haven't fired it, but it cleaned up nicely and the bore looks ok.

My buddy's dad passed away about two weeks after I got this. I keep trying to give it to my friend, but he said he doesn't want it. I'm considering making a wall mount for it to see if he changes his mind, put it up in his garage or something.

Guys, you may want to make sure the serial numbers of your firearms are not visible in your pictures. Here are a few of my favorites.
Beretta 92FS, Ruger GP100 in .357 mag, Ruger Super Redhawk in .44 mag, S&W 4506, SKB 500 in 12 gauge, Ithaca 37 (bought new when I was 15), Browning A bolt in .30/06. S&W 500 (hand cannon, not really one of my favorites, but I listed it anyhow).

Good point! Similarly, posting lists of what people have would not be wise.

Back on topic, there's a Potsdam over the front door that's been in the family "a while."

Did they get banned or just scolded? I can see how this could be slightly controversial. I down here in Ms. Most residents are packing some serious firepower. I don't personally know anybody that is anti-gun. Deer rifles leaned up in the corners at my house. I'm within a few steps of a gun everywhere at home. Keep a 22 mag in my truck. I've lived in a farm community all my life. When I was in high school. If you had a truck. You had a gun rack in the back window. I've seen guns in racks at the school in the parking lot. I watch the riots on tv and thank God it ain't happening here. YET . I hope using "God" doesn't get me the axe.

Neither and actually it's me who apologized but am going to hold firm. His post started by explaining his views on gun ownership and he feels that I censored his post. So for others who might think my deleting the post was censorship, what follows is part of what I said in a conversation with him:

I've always appreciated you and your comments and was really sorry that you got made into the example. Unfortunately, your post on the guns thread started out about how you had to change your view in buying the pistol which was precisely what I warned about in the opening post. To be honest, what you put there wasn't anything extreme but if I left it, there's no doubt that the opinions in both directions would spin off and things would get heated fast. And they'd all point back to post #2 and say I let you do it. Again, I'm sorry it happened to be you.

I started growing up on a Marine base, I've represented this country all over the world, broke a kidnap attempt in Columbia because of being American, my brother has done multiple tours and is still in the Army, and I'm completely with you on avoiding censorship in general. The limits on this thread were made really clear right up front in an attempt to prevent it from becoming a shit show. I hope you can see how your post went outside those rails.

Bob

ps to Top Ten - While there sure are plenty of other sites, one of our members asked to try this here. If people can just keep the opinions out of it maybe we can have a fun thread.

What is it? Does look obscure indeed ...
It’s a pistol that was was made in Idaho, I bought new, back in 1988. They are no longer made, and would fit in the same class as an UZI. This one is as new in the box.

my favorite is the one I'm carrying at the moment .... and that depends on how I'm dressed.... on long M/C trips I carry a 38 revolver with 2" barrel , around here and for church security I carry a G 22 , wearing a cowboy hat I'm wearing a 1911 , in dress clothes a 380 auto, a proper gun belt always to keep everything in place . if I only had one firearm to own it would be a shotgun . wearing a mask and open carry seems "interesting " so I don't wear the mask..... of course .... that is an attempt at humor ,lol.....

have a gun safe full of guns , but only have 2 hands .... and my favorites are the cheap guns .... bought a 200.00 dollar savage shotgun made in china . hardest kicking 12 gauge shotgun I have ever shot , had a tendency to jam after each shot , kicks so hard it would try and cycle the slide . pretty crudely made , machining not pretty , but I got it working smoothly ..... I love it ....
