Mouse got in and chewed up some wiring under the pillion seat here:

This harness has a black two wire plug here: (under driver seat)

It leads to the right rear tail/brake light. Could someone please tell me what part number or where I can find this harness? I would rather replace it than bandage it up.
TIA.

Yes, it is bad news, I was condemning all mice to heck (reference to Dilbert cartoon). That little sucker was FAST! I was in the garage on Saturday, no problem. Back in on Sunday afternoon, there was a trail of grass clippings leading from my mower deck to the moto, with clippings all over the bike where the little rodent dropped some. Tracked it down to about two handfuls of grass under the pillion seat, where about a month ago I had just installed a Skene P3 with some LED lights. She tore the neoprene covering the Skene unit and the associated wire to shreds, I might be able to salvage it by clipping some new wires on it.
But thanks for injecting some humor, I feel better about it now! :)

P.S. It was definitely bad news for the mouse, whose dead carcass now lies on the Stone of Offering on the edge of my woods.

it looks like the cable coming from rear indicator

It may be, I haven't disassembled the tail end yet to see where the wiring goes. I just shined a flashlight back there and it has a white plug into the right rear brake light. At any rate, your link to flasher lights shows them all sold out.

From what I can see in the pictures you can fix this with some wire and a soldering iron. I have cut these wires out and replaced them MANY times and is NOT an issue. Very easy fix... no sweat.

If you don't know how to do this type of work you can see many videos on you-tube and you can get an "all-in-one" kit (for this type of job) on Amazon. I just looked on Amazon, they are $14-$19.

You can cut out only the damaged wires and correctly fix them.... fast, easy, simple

Thanks for this, yes, I can solder and have 3 or 4 irons laying around here somewhere and some lead solder. I think I am going to remove the harness anyway for the repair for 2 reasons:
1) Curious and want to know exactly what plugs/connections are back there and where each one goes.
2) Easier access for the repair. The section coming forward from the taillight is actually a solid tube and the mouse chewed the wire right up to the tube. I want to see if I can get a little slack in the wire so I have more room for the repair.

I still would like a part number for the harness section, though. Partsfish.com isn't very specific with their diagram.

I believe you can pop that pin out and add a new wire straight to the pin... If you happen to need a pin, let me know, I might have one... The real wire harness (new) is probably only a Japan part, have to be shipped over ? Typically.

Squirrels got the main wiring harness in my Jeep when it was less than a year old. And, it was driven daily. Since it was not a commonly stocked part, it took about a month to get it. It didn't have to come from Japan either. I've since, made it my mission to put squirrels on the endangered species list. You have to be vewy, vewy, quiet when hunting scwerells. . . .

That's a great idea! I'll see if I can just R&R the existing harness!

. . . . Also, set mouse traps regularly.
I use Tomcat bait chunx. No muss, no fuss. Leave them around for the mice/rats, and voila'. . . . no more mice/rats. . . . without any stink. Just make sure cats/dogs can't get to the chunx. I live on the edge of a pasture, with a creek. Was going through about a pound per week. Down to a pound every two weeks. And, no, squirrels don't eat the chunx.

Another dead mouse in the trap this morning! Had the trap set right beside the front wheel.

I've used Tomcat snap traps and they don't always work on the field mice I get (a field mouse is a bit bigger than a house mouse). I've had Tomcat traps disappear and then later find where the field mouse dragged it under some piece of equipment or behind a workbench. Sometimes the mice lick them clean and they don't trip. I prefer the reliable USA made Victor Metal Pedal snap traps. I've trapped mice in my home and barn/garage since moving here in 2003, and the Victors have never failed me.

I've watched several Youtube videos with ingenious contraptions for catching mice, very entertaining but too much fuss. Just give me a simple, reliable snap trap anytime.

Let's not turn this into a variation on whats the best oil (mousetrap) thread.

I ordered what I think might be the right part from partsfish.com because it was less than $10 shipped, just to find out if it is. I thought it would be another good bit of information to contribute to the collective.

I don't use traps very often. . . . but when I do. . . . I use Victor.
