Not all Gen 1s will do this. I had a 2013 Gen 1 bought in Éire and a friend of mine had the same year Gen1 bought in N Irl. He could change from mph to kms/h but mine could not.

Hi! If it got stolen, do tou have insurance? Because it look like a insurance job.
The lock , key and dashboard all work together and cannot be separate. I think you’ll have to find a complete dash, ignition ton repair your bike.
Like I said ask your insurance.

I was thinking about that as I fell asleep. Has the insurance paid off on it? Should you even have the bike back? Will it become a Salvage Title? This could wind up being several thousand in repairs. I know the ecm is over a grand.

It still seems to me you should be able to relearn the chip part of the system to the rest of the system. Does the Canadian parts fiche sell the ignition switch as a package with the rest of the parts? If they need to be replaced as a package the fiche would show a balloon around the whole set of parts. Otherwise how would they be "matched"?

Outstanding! Look at that. Thanks for that. The fiche that I'm seeing don't even show the luggage locks with the ignition.

Thinking about this you should just be able to replace the ignition switch and key reader. A locksmith should be able to key it to match your existing keys. You still have keys and red key that matches the ECU so once there’s a reader to tell the ECU what key is in the switch that matches it should work.

Unless the reader ring isn't just generic and has to see a specific frequency. Still, having the original red key matched to the ecu, damn, that should work, I just don't know after seeing that Canadian parts fiche. It's a set.

From what I've read previously the immobiliser is very effective. It can't be bypassed, otherwise thieves would do just that. Sorry but I think you're going to have to spend some money on this one to get it running again. As dannyv says, you could get a USA ECU, but they can only display mph. There is no ability to switch over to kmh.
I think it's the other way around. Canadian models can't show MPH.

One gentleman put up a grab from a Canadian parts fiche showing all the parts as a unit.

We do not know how the OP made out on this as no further updates were made. However this problems resolution may be of interest to other owners of immobilizer equipped models in future. How to keep using the bike if it has a broken cylinder/switch cluster or if you have lost all the keys, especially the Red master key. Replacing the entire immobilizer system is a very expensive proposition. Reading up on this the immobilizer system consists of a key barrel transponder and associated wiring into the ECU. On another forum I have read that some track bike users epoxy a key near the key barrel transponder and have the bike wired to enable a keyless start. This may have worked for the OP too but then a hidden kill switch would be needed to prevent further theft. I am looking into other potential immobilizer emulator hardware solutions like was provided earlier in this thread for those having no Red master key, and thus unable to reprogram new black starter keys. Of course my black key is slightly bend due to the known and aggravating OEM luggage opening/closing issues. I don't have my Canadian model 2016 apart at the moment and probably cannot in the near future. So can anyone confirm the number of pins in the wiring from the key barrel transponder back to the ECU. Is it a 3 wire or 6 wire connector?

I didn’t unplug my immobilizer to count the pins, but the wiring diagram shows five wires.

And no need to be bending your key in the pannier lock, I attached a wire with thumb loop to pull the latch open.

If I really want to lock the pannier and use the key to open it, I slide the thumb loop in so it isn’t accessible.
