I have a pair of Gears (supposedly waterproof.... uh, ... NO) that are warm enough but find them a PIA to put on with wet hands. Any body have better, dryer option for wired gloves?

Wear a cover over the glove.
I have a pair of Gears glove covers. Once you learn how to put them on, they will keep your hands and gloves dry.
First, put on one glove, now fit the cover over top of the glove. Next pull both the glove and cover from your hand.
Now, put the other glove on, and pull the cover on with a free hand. Finally, put the other glove with the cover and your good to go. Just make sure that you can comfortably reach both the clutch and the brake levers.

I have a friend who rides an Africa Twin. He has muffs on his handlebars, they look ridiculous, but who cares, cold hands are not funny. My Tenere has heated grips and I wear a thick lined riding glove.
Thinking about getting a heated vest. One that plugs into the battery tender plug. Like to hear from those with heated vests, opinions, reviews etc., would be appreciated.

Hmmm...thanks for the link. There was only one review that gave it only 3 stars...along with a comment that the heat was not adequate when set to the high setting.
I'm sure there a numerous variables at play here. Perhaps alternator voltage amperage output, who knows?.

Agree with bimota re muffs and heated grips. I used heated gloves for years but they only last about 2 years..the wiring breaks WAY before the glove wears out (i ride EVERY day). That used to be ok with the old Gerbings because of the lifetime warranty but not sure if they do that now. Keiss do a greated heated vest etc but their gloves are tricky to use because thd connection is outside the glove and the lead from the jacket isn't quite long enough...only my opinion....try them of course

I was a full time commuter for about 5 years, both in Las Vegas and Phoenix. And while it does get hot in the summer, most people don't know it does get cold in the winter (winter 2008 we got a significant blanket of snow in Las Vegas, and winter temps regularly drop below freezing overnight in both cities). I went with a full Warm and Safe heated jacket, along with heated glove liners, and it was the best thing for those cold morning rides to the office. I would recommend the jacket over the vest, especially since the wind protection is narrower on the ST as opposed to other fully feared bikes.

Thanks for your input regarding heated gear, jacket vs. vest. I do have a good heavy riding jacket, so I think a heated vest will do it for me.

I sewed heated seat pads onto the removable liner in the jacket. Hooked it up to a Gears temperature controller and it works great
