Hey guys, looking at the full Warm & Safe setup of their newest gen 90W jacket, pants, gloves & socks. Total draw with all 4 is 15A @ 12V. Anybody know if stock Super Ten can handle that load? Don't have any other accessories installed besides a 12V adapter to charge my phone with that I plug into dash receptacle.

Thanks!

You will need to add a properly fused plug. The original owner of my ES added one to the ES side cover. You can also use it for battery maintainer. The electrical system output is very robust.

You're fine. I run W&S and Gerbing and lights, heated grips, and a volt meter. The W&S comes with an appropriate sized fuse in the included battery pigtail. Keep in mind that if you're using a HeatTroller you rarely will be pulling full load. You simply won't need it to stay comfortable. If you have a voltmeter you will see the pulsing from the HeatTroller, this is normal.

Another tip if you're new to heated gear; Don't adjust the heat to the point you are warm. You'll start to sweat and get chills at every little dip and rise in ambient temps along your ride. Instead, aim to be "not cold". Once you discover that fine line of not cold, but not feeling the warmth, you'll discover you can really enjoy the ride in comfort and you won't be fighting the heated gear temp up and down or worse, continue cranking it up at every chill, only to be uncomfortable or even get hot spots.

If I want to run both jacket liner and pants, do you know if the Dual Heat Troller comes with all I need, or do I need to order a 2nd battery harness to connect to the pants? I realize I can control both with the dual controller; just wondering if I need the additional harness.

Thanks

The dual heat troller has 2 circuits. I used one for jacket and the other one for gloves. You should be able to use one for jacket and the other for pants. Dual heat troller provides independent controls of the 2 outputs.

Depending on how you want to hook it up, you can usually run the jacket and pants plugged in together on one control circuit. Then use gloves for the second. Or, run pants on one, jacket on the other.

What I've found is I needed way more power for gloves, (higher setting), than for pants or jacket and I was fine with pants/jacket at the same setting.

The dual controller should come with everything you need. And as ruenjou1 said, it's two circuits, to control two items. It's NOT intended to power two separate jackets, like rider and passenger. The dual controller will only have one power cord to connect to the bike side pigtail.

I love W&S stuff, not only are the products solid, the company behind it is amazing. Great support if you run into issues, and their upgrade program can't be beat.

I run a Warm & Safe Gen 4 jacket with Gerbing T5 gloves on one circuit, Firstgear (rebranded W&S) pants and socks on the other circuit, controlled by their wireless troller (on top of the front brake master is a great place for it). Once you get over the credit card bill, it really changes how far you can go in comfort when it's cold.

The only thing I will caution against is to wear a pair of socks underneath the heated socks. Years ago, I rode about 10 hours at 5-10c. Had the full heated setup humming along. Get home to find that the heated element on the socks left a minor burn on the top of my feet.

Edit: Forgot to mention you can run jacket and pants on one circuit, and gloves and socks on the other, or whatever combo you want.

As Eric said, plenty of power and I also run the gloves on one circuit and the jacket on the second. Never found the need for the pants or heated socks but that's just me.

I connect to an SAE 2 pin plug and had a second one for the passenger seat. The reasons for using an SAE plug instead of just the coax are that the adapters are easy to come by and I can use it to power the compressor or connect the battery charger.

Mine has the coax plug but I have the SAE adapter to connect the same.
