Jasper and Hanne are on their way from Alaska to Argentina via Belgium. Wonderful young couple on their 1988 ATwins. Had to do oil changes and time for a new chain/sprockets on one. Was a good time hanging out and hearing about their travels so far. Wish them a good journey, on these cool old bikes.

Really glad I signed up for the "Garage/tent space" thread over on the ADV forum. Made some cool new friends.

I'm very envious, wish I could ride with them.
Most kind of you to help then along their journey, I wish them safe travels.

Where exactly is this thread located on ADVRider?

You just sign up to that thread and they put you on the map for people to search.
Most people offer tent space/a spare couch type thing. But with me living where I do it got to be kind of a pain with everyone asking regularly. So I just have it up for free garage space for anyone that needs to work on their bikes, or needs a hand around town type of thing.

I've had some interesting visitors through that and a couple who were took a lot of patience.

That's a polite way to put it hah!

Kind of why I stopped with the "tent space" end of things. I had a couple of incidents where someone calls at 10:30 at night looking for a free room in Vegas, not even on bikes. Or they want to stay a week type thing.

So limiting it to garage space for working on stuff has cut out any drama. Everyone that has come by to use the garage has been terrific. I've even given a few the door code to let themselves in while I am at work without any problems.

I ran into him in Calgary a few months back. He burned up the clutch on his AT, and was on his way to get a new one at the dealer.
Had a good chat on the side of the road, and sent him on his way with some loctite, as he didn't have any in his kit

My wife is VERY patient, and we've had a lot of motorcyclists stay with us over the years, but after we hosted 3 folks off another motorcycle forum she said, "maybe we shouldn't do that anymore". Edit to add she also said, 'unless you know them'. We've had several guests since, but I honor her request that unless I know them I don't invite.
