2012 bought new in 2015, only 16.5K...............how sad.

I even bought an old 1996 Honda Magna 750 to keep the mileage down on the S10.
It's a fun around the town bike.....but......I'm trying to get rid of it.
Sub-par to the S10 in everything except upper end power. Not enough reason anymore to keep it. ::007::

Proving a little difficult to get rid of though! Even though it runs like a new bike, after all the work I did to it!

2017 Super Tenere bought new in June 2018. As of today I have 3755 miles. I also have a Beta dirt bike I ride. I'm not a mile cruncher like I used to be. It's all about quality rides when I get a chance. I have a big ride that's over 1000 miles coming up in the next few months.

2016 bought new late August 2018. Now has 11,600 on it. It will hopefully have over 12,000 in a years ownership.

2013 Tenere 50,000 miles, rear wheel bearings and fork seals were the only real issues I recall.
Traded for a new 2018 ES and have put 13,000 miles on it so far, lots of nice improvements over the 2013.
I only dream of putting on those kind of miles....

So here I am, a year after my last post. Surgery last year sidelined my riding season after I had rotator cuff surgery, and this year my riding season got cut short again because I had a lobe of my lung removed this week. I swear, I'm going to start erasing July and August from my calendar! In the year since my last post, I have managed to reach 60,667 miles on my 2014. I should be back in the saddle in about a week, and I hope to squeeze in another trip this year to Indiana, so I can cross it off my "states I've ridden in" list.

2014 ES bought new, clocked 84,900 kms and still running. Not had a single mechanical or electrical issues thus far. The engine hasn’t missed a beat. All maintenance (except valve clearance checks) done at home. Only used Yamaha OEM parts and oil. Hope to ride it till it falls apart or next gen S10 arrives..... whichever comes first!

My blue 2012 is 8 years old today, and just turned over 150,000 miles. Two cam chain tensioners, an alternator, a rear rim (well two but the second doesn't count cos it was wrongly laced). At 100,000 miles the fuel filter was totally blocked, would have just changed the filter but Yamaha Germany gave me a new pump. Clutch was perfect at 100k, but Yamaha put the '14 clutch in just cos. I can't tell the difference. Big problem was corrosion in the ABS unit, but that was my fault - water in the brake fluid cos I hadn't changed it for 3 yrs. (time flies when you're having fun, y'know?)

I've read about some people having a lot of carbon buildup in the cylinders at much lower mileage than mine, and wonder what mine looks like at this stage? I've run all kinds of shit fuel in it, including 84 octane in Bolivia (gentle on the throttle to avoid pinging!). It's showing no signs of slowing down, as fast as it ever was, just using a bit more oil than in earlier times (about 1.5 liter per 5000 miles now, used to be 1 litre).

Update #2: turned over 65,000 miles riding to WeSTOC in Calgary and back from So Cal. I did perform a valve clearance check/adjustment at 58K since my last update at 40K miles. I had several tight exhaust valves (3 out of 4) and one tight intake valve. Another intake was on the loose side but I left it as I expect it will tend to tighten with mileage. While I was in there I fitted a new CCT, since even though my '15 is a gen 2 model, Yamaha have updated the CCT part number a couple of times since my bike was built.
.
With the TBs removed you can look straight down the intakes. The valves seemed pretty clean with very little carbon build up.
