First bike I tried was the Guzzi....
Even though it was smaller and lighter than the S10 it didn't feel as agile....
I've always said that the Tenere loses 200lbs once she starts rolling. I liked your review style, but I'm not surprised that the T12 was still your favorite ride. She's gonna be hard to beat for versatility.

I've been following the V85TT articles and love the looks of it. But I expect this is the winter that Yamaha will announce the update for our bike and want to give them a chance before committing to a change. In the meantime, my Tenere runs just fine as is.
Looking at the specs and features, V85TT seems like an obvious alternative to the S10, but the riding experience is vastly different. The styling is bold and a love or hate thing.

I agree that it's very likely that Yamaha will update the S10 in the near future. It will be very interesting to see what they come up with.
My guess is that we'll see:
1. TFT display with smart phone connectivity.
2. More sophisticated electronic aids.
3. More power.
4. Lower fuel consumption.
5. New design/styling of the front to match the T7 (since the T7 was revealed Yamaha have emphasizing the name T12 to show the kinship).

What I hope for but don't expect to see:
Lower weight.
Improved suspension with more travel.
More ground clearance.

What I hope not to see:
Increased displacement.
Increased weight.

I'm bad jealous of your moto savings account too! :p
The account is the result of an conscious decision I made very early in my adult life.

I realized that one of the main keys to freedom was a healthy economy. I initial achieved that by working double jobs for a few years (in my early twenties) to clear my debts. At the same time I became very conscious about what was most important to me, and spend my money accordingly.
I live in a small cheap house, drive cheap cars, don't eat out often, wear my clothes out and generally owns as few things as possible - not counting bike related stuff and travel gear ;)
As a result my overheads are low and I'm able to put quite a bit of money aside every month, even though I have a pretty average income.
Besides my "new bike" account I have a similar account labeled "travel/adventure" allowing me to travel where and how I want to (as much as my work allows it).

It's all about priorities.

I absolutely agree with your life choices/priorities; we're very similar. Which I guess is why I like the relative simplicity of the Tenere. I'm probably one of just a few that are only mildly curious what is on the horizon for the new T12. The FJ kept me happy for decades; I expect the T12 to do the same.

I absolutely love the Tenere as it is now. I don’t want all the gadgets and Bluetooth connectivity with my bike. That stuff is advancing so quickly it will just get dated on the bike. I find it is a “true” dual sport bike. I can take it on dirt roads, and if you have the desire and skills it can be taken off road and go amazing places.

And then you can take it on the freeway comfortably at freeway speeds.

It seems the “new” and “exciting “ has somewhat worn off the Super Tenere. It’s been out for almost 10 years. Marketing has people believing that the new models are the latest and greatest.

I’m in the middle of another 500 mile weekend and the S10 has all my needs covered. Love it.

I find it interesting that the reviewer complained about the lack of ground clearance but hadn't adjusted the pre load on the rear suspension from the softest setting.
