Sierra1 thanks for your comments
Your comment on defining the type of tire base on the usage for sure will be the initial point, and for sure the user will need to define how much use and where is going to be for the tire design needed.
Yes, also I undestand that base on the driving skils and way of driving can make a BIG difference in durability.
Reading the information regarding tires durability. I was surprice to see that there are tires that can hardly make it to 5000 I was expecting to see numbers like 20000 as a base line but it looks that only very few can make it and also the driving can help a lot to get that miliage.
To all, have a great week!
Miguel.

Good to hear from a person who's owned basically both. I'm not a 0-100mph stop light to stoplight guy on one wheel or anything. But I live in the desert where speed limits don't merit consideration 90-100mph on long hauls is normal.
i,ve had 2 gs 1200 and a gsa, now 5 years on a gen 1 xt1200 never put a bmw in my garage again.

my 1200 gsa twincam, had 2 fuel sensors £250 a time rear wheel bearing on a low mileage bike £400 it went on and on 1200 standard had a wheel bearing early servicing was expensive corrosion everywhere. electric rear shock on the gsa leaked oil BMW NO THANKS
my xt1200 has been bullet proof just petrol and tyres serving is really cheap to no electonic parts on mine basic bike.

i THOUGHT WHEN THE GSA SOLD AND I WAS BUYING THE TENERE FOR RUNNING COSTS AND RELIABILTY I WAS STEPPING DOWN TO A YAMAHA but i have had this xt1200 for 5 years now its been brilliant i wish i had bought this first not the bmw first.

Did you got th GS as brand new or was a used one! hard to beleive that the bearings had problems., also having problems with the O2 sensors look strange and of course all these was very expensive, now I understand why you are more happy with the ST. Also I do think I will be very happy with mine.
Is the color of your ST original? the one I'm expecting now (tomorrow the seller had just told me he will come tomorrow) is gray and I was thinking in changing it to Yamaha blue, I like it very much.
Thanks for the advice, I will be very active in the forum looking any ST Gen1 information.
Regards.
Miguel.

Don't forget you can get wraps nowadays in almost any color you desire. And, if you change your mind on the color, just peel it off, and try again. Also, very much cheaper than paint.

And as you said it is expensive too!
I see you say that the ST is being running without issues, is that the normal way ST behaves in the real world? (no issues!)
Thanks.
Miguel.

The Super Tenere is the Toyota Land Cruiser SUV of the motorcycle. They don't break, do most things well, are a bit heavy, and can be customized how you want.

Do some research around here on replacing the Gen1 cam chain tensioner (CCT) as it and the need for a skid plate are the weakest points of the bike.

S10 is slang for Super Tenere, we get lazy and don't want to spell it out. I see you shorten it to ST but that can be confused with a Honda model but then S10 was a GMC truck model too.

gv550 nailed it. However, having owned a Chevy S10 (and the GMC Sonoma variant that was the single biggest piece of crap I ever had the misfortune of owning), I cannot in good conscience besmirch the Super Tenere in that fashion...

Because of the reasons that gv550 provided, is why I refer to it as a Tenere. Yes. I know, there was, and soon to be again, just a Tenere. I'm just lazy.

Minor correction. S10 was a Chevrolet. I had an S15 which was almost the same truck but a GMC
