ha ha............at least you still have your sense of humor. I did not recognize that building, hence the question. When I make it back vengeance will be yours.

Dirt_Dad - We missed getting a photo of the dumfounded old lady when standing by your bike.
Once I knew the bike had no significant damage I just felt bad for her. You mentioned she was pretty shaken up while I was test riding it. I tried to put her mind at ease and hope she forgets about it. Life happens. If this is the worst thing that ever happens to my bike, I'm happy to accept it.

For those who speculated on my Pelican case...
Called Pelican, they said I could put in a warranty request for review.
Called Roger at Caribou in Colorado (where I bought the case) to find out exactly what case I had. Roger told me latches are free. I paid a couple bucks for shipping and he's sending me two replacement latches. It's so nice dealing with reputable companies.

Made it home about 1:30 am this morning. Ran into horrible 45 mph rain north of St Louis and then bunches of fog cutting speed to 40 in parts of Iowa.

Thanks for coming out to hang in E TN with me, I have been altering my routine to where I have been going there on my rides. Paulie knows, if someone wants to go back let me know. Maybe we can meet up, good place to ride in the winter, not too cold.

See you guys next time.

Had a great time! Thanks to Patrick for pulling this together. Extra thanks to Jack and Lori for the excellent accommodations.

I'm sure everyone came across hunters up on the trails. Well, at least one hunter was successful in bagging a bear. Nothing like zipping around a corner and coming face to face with this guy.

Thanks Patrick for organizing a great gathering. I enjoyed visiting with everyone and had a really good time riding the area. I had such a good time that I forgot to get out my camera. I only have this short video to share:

I had planned on taking it easy going home by taking two days but I got like a horse headed to the barn and rode straight through getting home last night at 10:30pm.

Looking forward to another gathering next year.

Thanks to Patrick for getting this entire show done so well. Thanks to those I rode with, Bob and John all three days, Patrick, Steve, and Ferris. Limey next time you can lead on the dusty roads!

1800 miles on the truck for 300 on the bike sounds like a terrible ratio, but they were 300 GREAT miles.

Looking forward to meeting up next year!

Echoing thanks to Pat for organizing, Hunts for hosting, and all the help and camaraderie. What a great group of guys.

Special thanks to KYwoodsrider for leading us around some great roads to some great spots. Nice pace, nice blend of roads, gravel, sights - just a perfect weekend.

I remembered riding past one of those Killboy-type photogs on the Cherohala. Our little group passed by on Friday, photo 237 thru 303. Paul's up on the pegs, even. ;)
LINK.
While scrolling around, I saw a LOT of S10's - a few I recognized.

Thanks again all - hope to see you all again soon.

On your way to everywhere, , Iowa
Eric and I made it home last night before dark with 800 miles for the day. Had perfect weather the whole trip.
Thanks Patrick for getting it together even though I was just passing through. It was fun seeing everyone.

Eric and I had some great remote camps off of the Blue Ridge.
Way back in the mountains!

eemsreno - Steve, It was great to finally meet Eric.

Merchant - As you said, there were LOTS of bear hunters out. They did not usually look happy to see us making noise in THEIR woods. (still image from the dashcam)
A number of them looked like they just stepped off the set of Deliverance and you could imagine the banjoes playing as we rode by.

Also off the dashcam were a number of trucks coming the other way on the dirt roads. Not all were good at giving way.

Want to share a close call I had when we were coming up to paved Route 68 from Kimsey Mountain Highway. (KMH is an awesome road!) The approach was a short steep uphill and there was a Ford F150 blocking the view to the left, so I had to ride right up to the white line in front of the truck which can be seen below.

Fron dashcam as I am at the line.

JUST as I got to the edge of the road, two cars came speeding from my left, PLUS a kid in a red car was passing them through the intersection! They went by so fast and close the front camera just got a blurred frame. The rear camera caught this of Dirt_Dad and BigBob as their heads snapped to the right, watching the cars after they just missed me. It was too close.

We turned down the way they came from and then came back. This is the view the two drivers would have had as the front half of my bike popped in front of the pickup and the kid passing them gave them no where to go if I'd crossed the white line at all.
(The distortion is my windshield in front of the camera)

As my old mother says, "there's a buncha idiots out there!". I've ridden constant rain for 3 days with heavy crosswinds. 3 hours west of Hays KS the temp dropped from 41 to 34, & I stopped at 1pm in Burlington CO with snow coming too fast to keep the helmet visor clear. Cold hands! Pic is snow on the bike soon after stopping. I'll update tomorrow.
