Just as an FYI...

I received the following from Mark at Sargent this morning (Tuesday, July 3, 2012)

"The latest information acquired today indicates we should be ready to release the Tenere by the end of August/Mid-September.

Mark"

I'm afraid that's going to be too late for me. Besides, as much as I love Sargent and their saddles (I've had several in the past), I've also been down this "should be ready..." road with them before. Given the answer above my bet is we won't see a Sargent saddle for the Super Tenere until Thanksgiving, if then. I've been patiently waiting for them to produce this saddle, but I think they're stretched too far - for me - this time.
I spoke with Bill "Rocky" Mayer just yesterday, and I think I'll have a set of seats off to him this week.
Sorry Sargent...  I luv' ya', but ya' had your chance!  ;)

I agree, Sargent drug their feet too long and missed the boat. I think that most people wanting a change of seat have already done so. I've had 2 Sargent seats in the past, 1 worked well the other didnt work for me at all. I was willing to give their seat a try but got in on the BMS group buy and am pleased with it.

I just did a 1000+ mile day a few days ago....and the BMS seat worked great.  In fact, I did not even think about the seat on the entire trip.  Try that with the stocker.

More folks will buy s10's down the road and Sargent will have a seat for them........ and for me.

I'm not crazy about my BMS saddle.  It's okay and an improvement over stock but I prefer the shape of the sargent - I don't care for all the contours of the BMS.  It's better than the oem and marginally better than the mod I did to my oem where I put some back armor in the seat to firm up the foam.

I'll probably sell my BMS when the sargent comes out.

I just got back home from a 4500 mile trip to Colorado, which included a few days of right at 500 miles. I had my OEM seat that Sargent rebuilt for me, and it worked very well for me. As others have mentioned, I didn't think about the seat during the whole trip. Of course, riding for seveal days in 100+ degree heat gives you other things to think about.  ;D

Having said that, I will probably try Sargent's World Sport seat when it is available, as they will probably be built on a wider pan as their other World Sport seats are. I have had them on 3 other bikes and loved them.

i have never had a custom seat on the bikes in my past so waiting is not a big deal to me at all.

that being said does the Sargent have the option of heat?

I think Sargent had optional heat in their seats, although my personal opinion on the matter is that its a waste of money.
My ass never got cold while riding in freezing temps. It was always upper torso, fingers and toe's. YMMV

i was thinking more for while the bike is sitting outside warming up that the seat being warm would be nice along with the grips.

I got heated seats in my Ridgeline.  Problem is you got to sit on the seat, start the car and push the heat seat button, all the while your butt is heating that cold leather seat.  So I guess all seats are heated - by your butt.

I also have heated seats and grips on my GL1800.  The grips are sweet, like when it's cold and rainy.  Heated seat?  Not so much...see above.

I guess everybody is different.  I don't think I will own another vehicle without heated seats.  My heated seats in my 4runner are awesome! I bought the Corbin heated seat because It was discounted and not much more expensive than the standard seat.  I used it twice on my last trip and definitely helped, although heated gear and grips would have been much better.

Love the heated seats in my car - crank the lumbar out and turn the heat on and feel your back just relax... I'm in Florida so they are essentially useless against the cold we don't have. Air-conditioned seats on the other hand......

Just an FYI...I sent Sargent an emil last week inquiring about the timing on the S10 seat release date. They said beginning to mid September.  Seems as though the original date is relatively on track.
