For many years, only cosmetic. But of course, suddenly the metal will be gone :(
By the time it actually causes any issues if at all your bike will be gone.
If you live in a wet climate or salty roads as i can imagine Denmark being, have it professionally done.
Now that's one heck of a Yamaha rep replacing the whole upper frame for a small spot of rust.

I found rust in the same place on mine when it was less than a year old.
Never considered contacting the dealer to have it fixed - just cleaned the area for rust and re-painted it...

My frame had the same problem a couple of years ago. I did the rattle can fix and greased the plug and stuck it back in. All is good. While I was at it. I notice a little rust around the bottom edge of my tank. When I pulled the rubber strip off the edge. It was covered in rust and the paint was off about 8 inches long.

There is now a clear picture.
This is a week spot regarding painting on ST10, worldwide.
(makes sense because all S10 are built in Japan, on same factory ::008:: )

Done :)
Repair done at a local "auto paint".
The dealer where I bought it, will pay.
The cost is 200$
There is a small difference in colour, the new paint is more glossy or maybe just more black...hard to see. But it is fine enough to me...much better than before :-)
The painter says it was the "clear coating" (dont know the correct english word), after the colour painting, the changed the colour a bit.
