Also - The 1290 is kinda heavy and now not the newest thing.

Meanwhile

We are less than a year till when the next major revision should hit the Tenere.

I like the "I bleed orange out of one arm and blue out of the other" comment.

Although I've been in some kind of crazy hibernation mode, I still have a barn full of motorcycles.
And I love the orange ones. Got 3 currently. (none from the latest crop, admittedly)

But I'd part with every other bike before I'd let my Tenere go.

Or put another way, if I can only have one........

It'd have to be the one I'd jump on and head any distance, anywhere, anytime, and not be the least bit concerned.

By the way, it sat for, I think, just more than a year, and it cranked right up.
That is just crazy.

A very generous wife if I do say so myself, the best I got was, " Just go get the bike, I will not have you around the house without one"........

And welcome back Snake  ::008::
As I get older, I am no longer surprised at what I know, I'm surprised at how much I don't know.

Almost what Mr Snake said, other than my S10 has already gone, but if I was a bit short of cash and needed a bike I could keep for many years and run on a limited budget another S10 would be top of my shopping list.

+ What an awesome Xmas present,

River,
I would be very interested in a compare and contrast.

People say the Super Tenere is not all that beautiful, well sitting side by side with the KTM 1290 the Yamaha wins in that department by a large margin. The 990 KTM was really neat looking to say the least, the 1190 was less neat by 10x, the 1290 is probably the ugliest thing ever, but if it has 150hp, that is all that matters I guess.

IMO, the Tenere and the KTM 1290 not only are awesome in their performance, though different, but are both beautiful bikes. In fact to my eyes they favor each other- I bet they're cousins! I will soon do a brief, non technical, contrast and compare.  Suffice it to say I would be torn if I had to choose between one or the other. Both great bikes!

Picked up, then rode home new '16 Super Adventure.  It was a nice balmy 42 degrees.

I spent several days on a '15 in Europe two years ago so I was reasonably familiar with it.

The power is intoxicating.  Going to be a fun bike.
