Save the SHERPA!! (BULTACO in Colorado)....
« on: September 27, 2015, 01:07:43 pm »
Friday morning heading to Moab!!

Some of you Colorado riders may have seen this poor Bull perched on top of the Scout on top of a shipping container on 62 or 141 out of Ridgway, CO.
This blew my mind that this old boy is being used sitting out in the elements solely as an advertisement!!
This seems to be in cosmetically excellent condition.
If your like I am when it comes to old two stokers this is ridiculous waste of a great bike.
The place was closed so no one to talk to but my guess the person or persons will not part with it or if they did they would throw out some outrageous price to send you down the road.

I saw this a couple months ago without the Bony rider on it so it's going to be a permanent setup I am guessing. :'(

::026:: A stupid waste of a great bike !

It's in crazy good condition ready to restore even has the air intake rubber and a kick stand, completely original!!
I know a rental place for outdoor events that has a 69 stingray corvette sitting in a lot behind a fence rotting into Fiberglass dust in Santa Fe..
The guy won't part with it.
A 1970 DODGE CHALLENGER R/T Hemi sitting in a lot next to a house in Los Alamos rotting to death, you can see where the plastic tarp rotted off of it as it sits in a ring of blue fibers around the car..
A friend and I asked him to sell it, NO it's a project someday!!  :'(

I went to a Trials event a couple years ago all the new ultra light bikes Gas Gas, Beta saw a new Montesa.
Then this guy is up with an old Bultaco Sherpa with vintage gear on, he grunted his way marvelously around the cores, of all the super cool new stuff the crowed was ecstatic over this old fossil!!

Computer designed may be practical and yes a way better bike to climb a vertical wall but it's the distinctive lines of the old bikes that set each company apart from one another back in the day.

That is a terrible waste of what looks to be a 1973 Model 92 Sherpa T 325cc in great shape. Even has the rare secondary muffler.

Speaking of Buls, here is a photoshow of a few of mine as ridden in AHRMA nationals: http://www.photoshow.com/watch/JK4uF2Xn

They are my passion and seeing one misused such as the one above is sickening to me.

You're only young once.
BUT, you can be immature forever! :-)

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice.
In practice, there is.

Would like it to get saved somehow!!  ::)
But right now I am getting ready to head to Moab and save my Tenere from the local repair shop in about three hours from now 360 miles rental car.
I don't think I can ride down that road and watching it deteriorate over winter it's sad as all hell!!  >:(

Offer up some $$ and a substitution and maybe they'll let you have it.

I know this is old but by any chance did any of you guys run across this sad sight on your travels this summer?
I was up in Ouray the beginning of last month but didn't get a chance to take a ride up to Norwood, Redvale to look.

The UK has a very healthy Trials scene and the cassic twin shock series is well populated and supported, I have a 2003-Beta Rev3 250 but I dont compete, but I have observed at trials, including the national twin shock series, here's a vid I took at a trial at Glenridding in the lake district, this old ariel has had a fortune spent on it and this lad can handle it as well.

And in another league the master himself!...my camera doesnt sjow how steep this section is, and the only other to clean it was Adam Raga!
