ADV skidplate
« on: May 27, 2015, 04:48:32 pm »
Anyone notice the increased engine/ shifting sound after installing the skid plate. I expected somme increase, but I can hear the transmission shifting in great detail. Thinking able using some type of heat proof foam to dampen the noise--any suggestions out there?

KTM has a foam block for stuffing between their skid plates and motors. I'm betting it would do a good job.
Dealers usually have it. And I suspect many places online.

Not expensive, if I remember correctly.

However, I don't notice an increase in engine noise. But my bike makes beautiful music with the arrows full exhaust. :)

KTM p/n: 59003990250
$6 online discounted, probably still less than $10 after tax at a local dealer
measures 4" x 11-1/2" x 1-1/2"

Put one on my Husky years ago as the engine vibs resonated the aluminum skid plate too much and created an irritating noise.

Just put 1/2 thickness of one under my Rumbux plate to fill the gap between skid and sump. Had rocks wedging tight in the gap and if got the right hit could pass impact through the rocks to sump. Also keeps mud from accumulating.

Thank you, I have the same problem with my H&B skid plate, I will look for the KTM insulation foam. ::008::
