Not intending to be a smart ass, so here goes: I've been suffering with recurring ingrown toenails for years. My wife cuts them out for me on a regular basis, but they keep coming back. I really don't want to go to a foot doctor if I can help it. Does anyone have a home based remedy that would work? They can be quite painful, if you suffer from them.

If you're truly being serious, and you don't want to see a doc, the best advice I personally can give you is to ask for help on a more relevant forum. I'm positive there are medical forums out there you could post this on.

;D ;D On our last tour the medic sprayed or soaked one of the guys feet with some purple sh*te .... Manganese salts I think, said it would harden the skin so he could remove the nail. What do I know ... I did offered to shoot the guy if the pain got too bad though.

Thanks, Swagger! I'll go get some of it and give it a try. I just don't want to get into having to go to a foot guy 2 or 3 times a year.

My wife was willing to do the "coup de grace", when I told her about my S10 order. I've gotta start to economize....

Jakeboy, You can try covering the tender area around it with iodine a couple times a day for a few days and it will toughen up the skin so it does not hurt so bad to get in there. Bottom line, you have to trim the pointed nail on the side out of your toe and taper the edge so it will grow up and out.

I have also heard cutting a V into the middle of the leading edge of the nail will cause that area to grow more but have no idea if this is true. It seems that the nail grows outward from the cuticle area. Good Luck!
