just unplugged the tank again and gas is pouring out, not just residual. something is up with the pump. gonna take it back out, hit it with a screwdriver, then replace it. maybe all this bullshit will save me getting stranded down the road.

Yea, now that i think about it, last week I put in a teabag filter and took off a full tank without a problem. WTF. My brain is fried for the night. I knocked the bike over in my stupor.

I just had the pump out, took it apart and put it back together, didnt see anything strange. Reinstalled the pump, then reinstalled the tank, put in some gas, and tried to start it. Then I unhooked the fuel line to see what happened and I was getting a steady pour... enough to soak a rag before...

I cant get my shit to start. Did a fuel filter, and tried the deair process, then removing the efi fuse, then checked it was getting fuel. Pulled the fuel line off the gastank, and it is free flowing. I thought the pump had to be turned on to push fuel... Got the fuel pump out right now, dont...

I had a tube of permatex red rtv silicone so I went with that. It should be safe on the paint, the tube just says "not recommended for gasoline." Forgot to mention, I also sprayed the hinge/mounting bracket with etch primer until it started dripping through, to coat the bare metal on the inside.

The weatherstrips on the tank, mainly the left and right side, are prone to holding in water. I had my tank off to do service and checked into it. Pulled the strips off, sanded, primed and painted. Also put a little gasket maker to seal them up and keep water out.

My forks were leaky, and there were black streaks that wouldnt clean off with degreaser, so I replaced the legs. This gave me a chance to play with the old ones. The first pic shows the streaks and sanding with 2000 grit, which didnt do much. The 2nd photo shows what happened with red scuff...
