Not to hijack this thread (but it looks like I am doing that anyway ;))
The MSTA national rally is in Avon, CO June 24-29 and several Super Tenere owners that are on this list will be there. Maybe we could do something in conjunction with that.

Good for you riding in the cold. I can't imagine riding in the snow. I grew up in New England where we had a lot of wet snow. Tell your wife none of us are meat heads.

Hi pluric, what brand of topbox is that you got on your S10? Is it removable i.e. does it remove with a quick release mount from the topbox base at all? How did you mount the topbox to the S10 rear plate? I use ADLO 981 topboxes (here in China) on my 3 moto's that I have parked in garage here. The ADLO 981 comes with a baseplate which allows the box to removed with the key that provides a dual function - opening the topbox lid and also allows the quick release button to be depressed (this is what releases the box from the baseplate). Curious how yours functions as I'm thinking of combining another ADLO 981 or similar model to my S10 although I've been hesitant as my S10 also has the OEM sidecases. I just like having the ability to be able to remove the ADLO quickly. Very functional IMHO. ADLO are a Chinese company which make a range of topboxes, helmets and other plastic motorcycle related small products. Can't vouch for any of the other items they pump out, but the 981's are pretty darn good having suffered a fair amount of abuse.
BTW, luv your pics...

A few I like.

Really hard to narrow it down to one favorite. I'll pick this one from The Cabot Trail when the bike was only 3 weeks old. But honestly it was a toss up between this and 4 or 5 others.

It's a Givi trunk. The blue one I stole off the FJR for this ride.
The black trunk is Givi too.
Originally I had made a plate that bolts to the stock rack and put Givi mounts on that.
Later I put a Altrider rack that comes predrilled for Givi mounts.
You mention you have the factory bags. The lids do hit the trunk. I flex them to the side a little
to fully open them. One button pops the trunk off if you don't want to flex the lids.

This pic taken in early September 2011 north of Longview TX - the day I picked up my new ST.
Drove it home to Canada the long way around ... via Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Yosemite Ntnl Park, San Francisco, Mount Saint Helens, & more.
Had 8300 kms on the OD when I drove into my driveway in Edmonton Alberta.
Can't wait to do some more riding as soon as the snow disappears.
Love the Bike!!!

Pretty much anytime after late Spring excepting Death Valley which needs to be done before late Spring due to heat. A lot of riding will depend on snow pack and the melt as it relates to Yosemite. Joshua Tree is beautiful and should be good. Can be cold at night through there if it's too early in the year.
Post up and I'll meet up/host ya/show ya around/etc.

Maybe an odd question but have you a headlight out and are your indicators on all the time?
Don't see that over here in the UK
-
Not normal for headlamp, but good catch. The front turn signals stay on for running lights. Less than an hour before on that trail, very rough and ruts, cracked and broke my fender, plus lost my right headlamp, turned out it was a loose connection at the lamp and it fried/cooked it.
-
Tiger
It looks like you are coming down from the Alpine Tunnel. Nice pic.
-
Yep, going up before the old water tower is where I did all the damage in hitting some severe ruts and rocks at speed. That was a great ride back in there!

I don't have many pics at all, so... from yesterday's ride.

That was in another thread last summer. No biggie, I repaired it with CF and still have it on the bike, new one waits in a box.

Yeah, looks like one has to be really careful when installing that can. Same non-downturned style the Wasp muffler has, so spacing the thing so as not to direct any exhaust on the stock panniers is very important. TBR doesn't really fit the mold for this bike anyway...too darn noisy.

This photo (the first one) have a meaning.
This pure cigar was a gift from a friend who is a doctor for mi birthday, he said me "to smoke relaxed in a beautifull place". Then, 3 month later I follow the prescription and smoked it relaxed in front of the lake with a beautifull landscape the cigar at the top of the trip. Take the picture and send to my friend to show him.
The second one is the complete scene
The third is in the 40 Route in the same trip, you can see the GPS position, traveling alone and in this moment I could feel the inmensity.

That is a HID aux. light. It's an Osram Sylvania Xenarc X1010 HID Xenon Auxiliary HID Low Beam/Driving/Fog Light. Dot legal for hiway use. Nice wide spread with a sharp beam cut off. I can leave it on in traffic or with oncoming cars and not get flashed. Great help in filling in the midrange and broadening the light cast past the sides of the road. They sell them in sets are are hard to find, but a friend had a single in his garage from a crash, and offered it to me cheap. www.suvlights.com (http://www.suvlights.com) is down for maintenance, but used to still carry them for about $400/set with harness, etc. Wiring is long for moto use. I tucked the ballast on the back side of the right side panel, in the nose where it can get cooling.

Last couple of days I was getting tired, (averaged about 500+ miles a day for 20 days) in WY, I just pulled over to a ATV trail and took a short rest under a shade tree. Had to take another rest/nap stop under a shade tree at vistors center in Canada just before Montana.

to add to that picture...
they made a mildly retarded dedicated motorcycle parking in the same parking lot.
More often than not, all the snow piles up there, and is last to melt.
so often times, bikes just simply end up using the stalls, 2-3 per stall.

Will be looking forward to seeing phplemel's newly painted bike in June.
Might have to check with the auto paint store and see how much would be needed of the tri-diamond pearl white for a Yamaha Tenere. ::012::

There is a thread..
It’s a pity Yamaha doesn’t make a truly adventure version like KTM. Just need to put a 21” front wheel, good a longer suspensions and real protections, the rest of the bike is great!!
My dealer is preparing a kit to do that. That’s the reason yesterday we had a photo session: Super Ténéré R in action:

So, last year my SO decides she wants to paint - lots of fruits
and bottles and such rendered in oil and acrylic on canvas
adorning the walls around the house. Then one day, this
shows up, snagged from a frame of video she captured
during my daily commute a few weeks back.
(http://25.media.tumblr.com/83e7e702647fd4f4a82c330bb042c7e4/tumblr_mklja8cCIU1s6lu49o1_1280.jpg) (http://www.jenniferrichardsart.com/post/46880447370/motorcycle-tenere-oranges-san-diego)
She calls it "Motorcycle and the Orange Grove". I call it
"Brutal winter commute in San Diego" ;), as I am reminded
by tales in this forum, it's not only the where, but the when
that can make a story.

make sure you hang a right at the stop sign in town.. the last one, and go down to the dock.
Allways a good photo op there.

Was in Tofino today. Pouring rain. Basically went there for coffee and snacks and now we are in Comox. I did manage to get some good photos on Long Beach as it was just misting there. Did go where you said, but weather was too bad to bring out the camera.

Indeed! And don't think he didn't point that out... :)
Can't wait to run back up one weekend (it's only 350 miles) and go for a ride in his new sled as we didn't have time this trip. Apparently, unlike boy's Yammi, no reviewers complain about a lack of grunt...

I haven't had mine long enough to have gone anywhere too exotic yet (just since July 2013.) Here is a pic from November 3, 2013, when I rode down to Windsor, Ontario, about a two hour ride each direction, for the funeral visitation of a friend's father. This is on the north shore of Lake Erie on the way home. Nice sunny day, but the temp was just above freezing both ways. ::001::

It's the 2-up anything-master far as I'm concerned. Tracie loves the perch (especially compared to my VFR 800) but it's taken us many, many, comfy highway and byway miles. And even though we haven't climbed any great summits, it's taken us through 10 miles of Florida sugar sand without dumping us. And that's a true testament to the bike as I haven't ridden off-road since I was a kid, and I sure-as-hell don't know what I'm doing on a 600 pound bike, two-up, in Florida sand. I give all credit to the Tenere for us making it through unscathed...

-
She absolutely loves it. It's barely broken in (1400 miles), but it really did well on the Dragon and it's fairly comfortable for multi hour stretches. The only down side is the fuel economy. 40mpg is about the best she gets and she's not hard on it at all. Bike usually goes about 115 miles before the fuel light comes on.

Awesome, I have an FZ1 that gets 40 mpg if I lie about the mileage;), so that doesn't sound bad to me at all. Glad she's liking it, it'll be a while before I can pull the trigger on one so I'll just keep lusting for now. Would love to hear a report after some mileage is racked up.

Pics of your bike have pushed a friend of mine over the edge to getting a Tenere. Says it's "Dead Sexy" - he's just waiting on the right used one to pop up. He's a KLR guy so it's got to be the right bargain... ;)

I was lucky enough to catch a really a bad cold the day before getting it so I couldn't take if for ride for more than a few blocks.
Looking forward to posting many more interesting ones.

Taken earlier this year. My first ride out after getting the 'all clear' from my doctor, following heart surgery. Going out on her made it feel so good to be alive. ;D

Congratulations! Some things are just so good for recovery.. ::012::

Congrats Mikeybikey57! I too am a Heart survivor. I had a heart transplant in 2012, 2 years ago to the day on Sept.26th. Getting back on the Tenere' was huge incentive for me to get well. Great therapy. Feeling great! ::008::

This is my current favorite pic from a ride to Utah last April. The ride home through Nevada saw the temperature drop to 28, with a 40 mph wind and snow. I stopped in the town of Austen to help my wife thaw out and warm up. She loved Utah, not so fond of Nevada!

That's a really good picture Bob.

Hey Don,
That area is so devoid of civilization, I believe you are right about cool mines to explorer. But I would rather ride there next time when it is just a bit warmer! How often do you hang out exploring sliver mines?

LOL. Funny what you see (or don't) looking at the same thing, depending on where in the world you are from, I was wondering did the sign have to be that big? As hardly anybody would care............
