My 2017 Super T
« on: October 07, 2017, 12:46:43 pm »
On August 24th my wife surprised me at work with the keys to a new S10. We had decided to get a different bike after our last trip on the Vstar 950 we had been riding for a few years.

Why did we pick the super T?
I am a Yamaha loyalist (but I looked hard at the 2014 DL1000)
Electronic cruise
Horsepower
Shaft drive
Looks bad ass
Wanted to be able to ride gravel and dirt with confidence.

Other than commuting the bike will be ridden mostly two up.

Plans are to slowly outfit it with all the good farkles. crash bars, skid, all the luggage, lighting, and other stuff to add comfort and fit it to us personally.

So far I've got just a few miles on it. I've modified the windshield bar to hold my phone case, made some braces to stabilize the windshield and accessory bar, installed altrider crash bars, repurposed an old fishing tackle bag for a tail bag, swapped out the stock levers for short ones, and did the flat seat mod for the low position.

Welcome aboard. Love the color and you did a nice job on the windshield supports.

What brand is your fishing tackle bag or taibag?  Looks great, better than my Wunderlick!

In my opinion, you just bought the worlds BEST 2-up adventure platform EVER.  Bar none. Nothing else even comes close with that specific criteria.

I won't likely get a debate around here. But it'd be fun if I did.

Congrats!

It's an OpenWater bag. It has a hard bottom but I wanted a little more structure so my wife would not think she'd slide off the back. Strangely a cat litter bucket had the same size foot print. Cut the height, Drilled a few holes and zip tied it to the rack. I think it's good for a free or cheap temporary tail bag. Not water proof and fills up quick. Just my lunch box hat and gloves nearly fill it up.

Congrats!

Thanks, I feel the same as well. The two other bikes I was leaning to were the Fj-09 and the DL1000

This bike to me is number 1 everywhere except weight.

If my Yamaha shop would have had a newer than 2015 fj-09 I may have when that route. The first models had a very low protruding oil drain plug.

looks good , you might consider the winglets that mount by the windshield , makes a grate impact on the wind coming around the windshield... you will like it.

Installed a light bar under the headlight and wired it to the high beam switch. Got the light bar from eBay. It has a very focused spot beam. I think I'll be getting something to mount on the crash bars for the ditch flood beam later on.
