Compared to the others, it's a pain in the ass to light.  the Jet-Boil and the Knock-Off are instant on and the Coleman has a self priming generator (take a few seconds to heat up and get going, but light it once and go).  Priming the MSR is what I dislike.

I'm on an 8 day canoeing expedition on the Boundary Waters in Atikokan with the Boy Scouts at Norther Tier at the end of this month, and we're stuck with Whisperlites because that's what they supply.  I'm glad the boys will be doing all the cooking so I don't have to deal with it.  I'll let my son practice with mine the week before we leave so he's the "expert" with it.

If your having issues priming the WL and you have enough being used at once to justify bringing one of these to prime them faster..
Just hold it to the vaporizer tube for 30 seconds and slowly turn on the pump valve..
Work good starting camp fires as well..

Another thing I have done is I wired tied a piece of welders carbon felt to the primer cup a little squirt with alcohol fire it up, flame starts going out turn the pump valve on stove fires away. Amazing with all the PC going on they still let scouts use white fuel items these days? :-\

Used mine everyday on a two week trip up north. Worked great! Only issue was when I let the piezoelectric starter rotate out of the propane stream.

A+!

+1

Just finished a week on the road. It was great.

The unit is ideal for use with a 230g fuel. The 100g size that fits inside most Jetboils doesn't store well inside this.

Yup, max weight is only 275lbs.  That's 50lb under my weight.  :))  Could get ugly.

Sierra1 I understand what you mean. What is really ugly is watching this fat guy trying get up off the ground.  I know a lot of the Beemer riders swear by the Kermit chair. They even make a wide model and it is made specifically for moto-touring.
