Ridin' Around San Diego - Feb. 2014
« on: February 16, 2014, 07:54:18 pm »
I managed to take a little ride out to the Anzo Borrego desert yesterday. It’s starting to warm up out there. Borrego Springs, my destination, was in the low 80’s at 11:00 am.
Didn’t take a lot of pictures ‘cause it was more about the ride, but I did snap a few.

I stuck mostly to pavement, but I got a few miles of dirt too. At the end of this road was about a mile of real soft stuff.
Some duck walking and about 20 ‘OMG I’m going down’ expletives later I was back on firm blacktop.

Along the way I saw some flora……..

This is one plant you do not want to collide with.
The Cholla cactus is abundant in the desert Southwest and lines some of the roads in this area.
AKA ‘the jumping cactus’ the spines will penetrate most riding gear and is extremely painful to remove. DAMHIK.

And some fauna………..
This is one of the metal art pieces that are strewn about just outside of Borrego Springs.
