2018 Tracer 900 GT - TFT clucster on a Super Tenere?
« on: November 13, 2017, 02:31:04 am »
So Yamaha have release 2018 model Tracker 900 and Tracer 900 GT.

The 900 gets the same instrument cluster as our Gen2 2014+ Super Tenere,  which they then stuck on the MT10
But the 900 GT has the upgraded TFT colour instrument cluster... soooooooo what are the chances we can just plug this baby into a Gen2 Super Tenere?

I will be ready for the Tracer in 2018. I was thinking of a 2017 or 2018 FJ09 but the Tracer looks more of what I want.

They finally fitted proper suspension...woooww..
I liked my FJ09, didn't like it enough to keep it, as I don't have enough good paved roads around my neck of the woods.
There's nothing wrong with the display.  Biggest let down was the stock suspension.   And a note, just because they made it fully adjustable, doesn't mean it will be any good.
Traxxion cartridges, and a Yacuagar rear shock fixed mine.

I am happy that they are keeping it around, as it's a brilliant motor, in a very nimble package

Sorry gents, but I don't see the fascination.  It's just another re-worked version of the FZ-1, (Fazer), with a missing cylinder and a few CC's short of the real thing.  Some marginally improved features that still will need sorting by the owners and a bit more bling.  Solo rider that likes to travel light and hoon a little in the curves.  If you're a real traveler or two up, step up to the FJR.  (said from a guy that owned a FZ-1 and moved to a FJR after waiting for the PDP)

You might chuckle, but this is Yamaha's version of the Motus!  :D  A bike for over age posuers that still think they can ride on the street like they wished they could on the track, but can't hack the miles or weather.  Or a second bike for those hipsters when then need something reliable and their 'cafe bike' won't start or they need to go farther than the local coffee shop.   ::)  Go, Go Marking Hype Boys!!

To the OP.  Err, why?  Even if it plugs and plays, and actually bolts on and fits the rest of the Super Ten dash bits, would you really pay $400+ for a color dash that gives you the same information?

Well I can't really answer your question...
But it depends, on there is actual data stored in the display, or if it simply is a display.
My GUESS, is that some programming is needed.

I like it! I'd get the Tracer 900 GT if it had shaft drive. Deal breaker for me on a long distance bike, which is what I use the Tenere for.
My around the town bike has a chain but it doesn't see near the mileage.

Even if the plugs fit, Yamaha pin programs the clusters so they "know" what model they are on.
