Relatively new owner
« on: October 17, 2017, 12:55:06 pm »
I decided to get back into riding this year now that I am about to be an empty-nester and most of the other reasons people stop riding are no longer relevant.  I found a new 2016 ST earlier this year and have racked up just over 2k miles so far -- mostly weekend trips, daily commutes, & one longer trip that let me take the bike off road.  I added alt rider crash bars and some wolfman luggage.  I hope to make a few more mods over the winter and gear up for some motocamping next year.  As a big guy (6'4"/275lbs) I love the way this bike feels and the fact that I do not look like I should be in the circus while riding it -- a feeling I get when I have to take my daughter's Honda Rebel anywhere....

Long-term I am working on convincing a few buddies to get back into riding so that I can take some longer trips up north that do not seem like a good idea solo.  Ultimately I hope to see how far north I can get into Quebec (based outside Boston) but obviously that will take some working up to.

Happy to be a part of the forum.  I took advantage of several threads earlier this summer while working on the 800mi service.  Here is a picture of one of my growler runs.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on returning to riding.  I hope you enjoy it even more than you remember before.

If you ride North into Quebec far enough, you hit Madawaska, ME.  Other than having to deal with Quebec drivers, it's worth the ride to one of America's corners.  There is a nice monument there that makes a good photo op.  Note that all the nice hotels are on the Canadian side of the border there.  Only two in Madawaska, once is fine, the other, not so much.   After that ride, you can start working South until you hit Key West.   ::001::  The Super Tenere will take you anywhere you want to go, so let it.   ::008::

Welcome. Looks like we have the bike.

How do you like the windscreen extender?  I was thinking of tackling that next now that it is getting colder.

The MRA X-creen works great. It can be raised to get you completely out of the wind.
