OK this is what I have done following the guy on Youtube rerouting to Stator wire.. Didn't work.
Now I have no idea if this leads to another issue but I was so frustrated that I decided to run regular gas instead of the high octane 90-91.
two weeks knock on wood it has not stalled has not jumped up to 3k it does dance around 1100 to 1000 rpm idle but has been running well.
And no I have not noticed any engine pinging/knocking with the low grade.
Anyone have any ideas why this changed the issue? :-[

Take note of the weather conditions when it occurs. Wet humidity conditions may trigger a short to ground on broken insulation. I still think it is wiring related.

Use back high grade fuel to see if problem returns. No idea how it correlates if it is true.

It could be hot, Cold or wet it just happens.
It was a cool morning when I left for Ouray a week or so ago poured on just past Durango snowed on just before Silverton.
Two days in Ouray and back into some screaming hot weather between Durango and home in Los Alamos.
Nothing happened. Today was blistering close to 100 degrees 130 miles and ran like a champ.
I know it's Electrical related when because when I rerouted my Stator wire while it was running I wiggled some wires mainly the Stator wires and a few around it going to the voltage reg and all sorts of funny shit was going on. These are happy times why spoil it? ::013:: lets see if it acts up within the next couple more weeks if not I will switch to high grade again. As of right now no pinging, motor shutter running up hill or power loss it even stayed at 1100 rpm all day.

Just wondering if the plug coils were previously inspected for corrosion? Or even the coil socket connectors or even the plugs. I know it is more of a wiring issue but no harm to check these.

I had an issue with high idle on my car n traced it to an intermittent plug. Only occurs when ticked over n when lights r turned on. Changed the plugs n issue went away. Those Bosch iridium fusion lasted only 3k km before the issues came out. Japanese made vehicles somehow work with Japanese plugs.

From what I learned from Yamaha Corporate about some bikes accumulating carbon, have you tried REGULARLY using the Yamalube MedX engine cleaner? As a commuter, I use regular gas and tend to run low rpm a lot, which is a good way to build carbon. That's what Yamaha was believing led to our hard start issues and probably some others.

I've switched to it from Seafoam and like the MedX better, if just for price and convenience. The little bottles are $2.46 full retail and sized so that a bottle can be carried easily and one bottle treats every second or third refill.

I have not had this problem with my 2015 S10 but over the years I have had intermittent problems.  Now I take the main power connections apart hit them with dielectric grease and tighten them down.  Over the years I have found that loose ground connections wreak all kinds of havoc; give it a try if the problem returns.  Remove clean and hit it with dielectric grease and tighten to spec; so far I have not had problems.

Been there Done that, actually the MedX gave me more issues and yes I read the instructions!! Seafoam I have used for years good stuff..
I would ride this bike in my sleep if I could, it runs every day easy 100 miles a day on interstate 70 to 85 mph. New Mexico is big and everywhere is at least 45 to 75 miles apart one way!!
I don't get it and so far no one has cought the ghost yet.. That's the reason I started the thread File a complaint with NHTSA Voice your safety concern Dead or High Idle issues..

That went as far as my mail box 40 feet from my front door... >:( This is an issue that has hit a minority in this forum and elsewhere, and I honestly feel Yamaha should be held accountable. It's dangerous period..
Apparently others don't agree or don't care "My problems are gone I bought a Gen2 I don't worry about the other guy". ::007::
I am wondering what the dealers that got trade-ins are doing to fix them after they sold them to some unsuspecting buyer? ::024::

So I did the TB sync and got the CO adjustment available now in the diag menu.  TB were a little off but now are perfect.  Went 3/4 turn out on right side TB, and had to go to 1 1/8 turns out on left TB to get them to sync up.   Went +3 on the CO on each cylinder.  Bike fired up and rode great around block  5 seperate times with no issues.  Today rode bike all over, bunch of little stops/ trips for errands and i have not had an issue.  I also charged and tested the battery after the TB sync, and so far its running great.  Ill report back if I run into any issues

Spoke too soon..... issue occured again today.  Rode to work (only couple miles in town), ran a quick errand mid day, and all was fine.  Rode home and it was fine until i got close to home again, it was idling low (800rpm).  Get to house, pull clutch in and it dies in driveway.  Error code 60 on dash, CEL on.  Try to start a few times and no luck, so i open throtte 1/3 way and it fires up.  Ride around block and its again holding the rpms and pushing me when i close throttle.  Pull over after it does this a few times, turn off for 10 sec, fire back up with no throttle input and it runs just fine.  Ride for 10 minutes and no issues.  Keep checking  / starting at home after it sat an hour and still runs fine.  Rode it around for 5 min and still going fine, no high rpm holding, no low idle / dying.   im kinda at a loss.  I checked my hoses on the TB and they are all connected properly.

Josh,

Was reading a post on Error Code 60 and it went down to an incorrect Plug coil swap connection.  Seems like if there are errors in the Coil, it may trigger a 60.  I would recommend an inspection to the 4 coils and see if corrosion is an issue or a plug that decides to die early.

Its worth a shot.  Wont be until next week / weekend, heading out of town tonight for weekend but i rode today and bike ran fine. did 30 miles then a short 6 mile trip and no issues either time.

Not sure if this video might be helpful - https://youtu.be/kTlhEyi6IK8  - it someone who fixed their idle problem problem by re-routing the stator wire.

Didn't work at all for me..
86 Octane has been doing perfect until................................
Today dry as a bone good morning weather went to Santa Fe 43 miles one way road great get into town and then the 3k rpm acts up then the stall BS stopped at a store for about 45 minutes WOT start kept stroking the throttle to keep it running. Took off coasted at 3k rpm got to a light turned it off went back to normal all the way home.
Yes solution number 125 has failed today who knows what tomorrow will bring? ::025:: ::017::
It is truly the only thing I hate to death about this bike.. Again Yamaha should be concerned, this will be my last Yam. >:(
