We went thru the speedo accuracy discussion again when the gen2's came out in 2014. and surprisingly, they were accurate.  In spite of some non believers that have never ridden a gen2 USA S10, yes the Gen 2 S10's sold as USA models are very accurate. Maybe our brethern at Yamaha USA listen to their customers and others don't.  :)

Like most of us, my speedo is off and I hate that. My previous bike was dead on. So I've sent a mail to 12oClockLabs that sell easy plugin system for correction of speedometer (healer). Following is a transcript of our communications FYI

Vehicle: 2016 yamaha super tenere
Product: Speedodrd
Message:
Like to know if you guys have came up with a solution for the above bike. Is ABS a problem? Will keep the super tenere forum updated with your answer, because a lot of people would love a plug and play solution for that bike

Regards, ******

Thank you for the answer. Do you have any idea on a scheduled launch: short, medium term...?  when can we expect that?
regards

Hi ******,
because the only sensors are ABS, and the gauge is CanBus, their is no normal signal to intercept for speedometer calibration. We have an ABS calibration system in development, the earliest would be late next season that we may have a solution for you, sorry about that.

Thanks,

thank you.  that is what I had in mind that the ABS signal might be a trouble when I saw in your listing that some similar bike have the (not ABS) at the end

thank you

Don't hold your breath! I still have several emails from them as early as Feb. 2012 stating they were working on a plug & play solution.
Perhaps they'll release something a few decades after the Super Tenere is extinct.

People with the Gen2 bikes were generally reporting to be within 1.5 - 2 mph at 60 mph. Changing tires could change the speedo by nearly that.

...except the 3 Canadian owners reporting that there Gen 2 bikes are 10% off. (In this thread and other threads like this.) I don't know if we are an isolated sample size, or there is a difference between the US and Canadian Speedo's, like Euro vs US.

Mine is a 2015 and was 10% off with the OEM, and also the replacement set of tires, which is the reason for my query.

Seems like Yamaha has regressed as my '15 is only 1-2 MPH off.

As I posted above USA Gen 2 bikes speedos are very accurate. Others are still as inaccurate as all Gen 1's.

Please keep this thread to 12 o'Clock Labs.  We have plenty of other threads we can resurrect about speedo error and why it exists.
